tennesee fans should be embarrassed how bad you are... after thursday you said how great a job pearl did getting this team to win the sec east and after a loss where it took a miracle shot to beat us.... everyone goes back on the we suck and fire pearl bandwagon can you people pick a side and stop flip flopping back and forth for every good win we have and every loss we get... so its pearl fault that we missed half are ft's 2day no its on the players...

i dont care wat anyone has to say but pearl has done a great job with these kids and how far they have come with that schedlue they have played and lets see how it finishes out... he coached better then donavan and gillesie has with a more veteran and experianced team

Well, yeah the miracle shot beat us, but look at how badly UT played today. How many missed FTs were there?

I think the Pearl Sucks people are dumb, but don't act like Alabama didn't outplay UT all day.

Ditto that. I would call that the worst home loss of the Pearl era.

Pearl is the best thing to happen to UT basketball since the Don DeVoe days. This team does not have that killer instinct and the free throws are inexcusable as well as the missed layups. I have said it before, the playground needs to close. Instead of trying to see how cute we can be at fancy lobs and dunks which count no more than a regular shot, work hard on the fundamentals make your free throws and layups or there should be consequences. Today it was losing to an inferior team at home. Pearl has to bear some responsibility. I saw where somone asked John Wooden what he thought of the fancy slam dunks. He said well they may look nice but that player would be sitting over on the bench next to me. There are lots of great athletes in college but few basketball players.

I agree it is absolutely ridiculous to blame pearl for this loss, or to say that he needs to go. Tennessee has so much potential and this season was not a complete failure. We were blessed with Lofton and J. Smith last year, but they fueled our team. This team did not meet its lofty expectations because they had to find a new style of play. You could make the argument that this season was perhaps Pearl's second best coaching year because he made the adjustments to turn the Vols into a 1 seed in the SEC tourney. we only had three bad games all year IMO and those were the two KY games and our loss to Ole Miss. To me, we had no excuse for playing that bad, but we couldn't shoot at all. The USC game was a huge statement for how much the team matured and the loss today was just a small blemish on our extremely difficult schedule and may also go a long way to keep our boys' egos in check. So everyone should chill out and give the team your full support.

I'm willing to chalk up today's game to the early start and a feeling that the team wasn't playing for anything. The fans and team should know better since NCAA seeding is at stake in every game until the tournament, but I think everyone was overlooking this game ansd just counting it as a win. I also believe it would have been a pretty easy win if it started after 2pm. I'd have them shooting free throws at 8am every day until the next game.

I couldnt agree more.. I guess when I saw Smith and Prince "chestbumping" or whatever its called during the MIDDLE of the South Carolina game a thought came to my mind. They didnt do it during a timeout..it was done right in the middle of the game. Coach Pearl should address that junk and not let it happen. That doesnt make the program look like "basketball players" on national television.

but I am OVER IT and I love Bruce Pearl and what he has brought to our program. Sometimes the team just doesn't click together and that is not his fault....I think they played like they were tired. AL had nothing to lose so they were relaxed...maybe we came in too comfortable thinking there was no way we could lose this game. It may prove to lite a fire in our players, hope so. GO VOLS!!!

Man you Pearlophiles (gotta admit hat, I like that one) sure are whiny.

Edit: In fairness, I used to like Bruce Pearl, before I realized he's not a good coach.

How is it not Pearl's fault that the players aren't motivated, and can't play half court O or any form of D?

While I am thinking about it, can we finally put to rest the notion that JP Prince is anything approaching a good basketball player?

I can live with the intelligent criticisms of Pearl because most of them are valid, but to say he is not a good coach is idiotic at best. He may not be a great or championship level coach, but it's hard for me to believe that a coach who puts together four straight NCAA appearances with two Sweet 16s taking over a program who had not been past the NIT in four years is not at least good. And Hatnation is about as annoying as the Pearlophiles.

Would it make you feel better if I called him mediocre? How am I supposed to measure a college basketball coach if not by championships and performance within the NCAA tournament?

1. The game started at the same time for both teams.
2. Remind me what Alabama was playing for today.

Really...this wasn't a bad game...because if we played a good game and still lost to Alabama we should be pretty worried about our program
