Don't consider some of those guys analysts. More like game play announcers that lead the booth commentary. If it was intended to count them there is zero question Verne rings the bell dead last.

Good point. Broadcast crews consist of a play-by-play announcer and a color commentary analyst in the booth and usually a sideline reporter. If we're only talking about analysts, then that lets out Musburger and Lundquist (and Beth Mowins and her fake southern accent, which would get my vote).

As for analysts, I don't think I've ever heard Herby or May say anything that I thought was interesting or added to the experience of watching a game.

On the flip side, I really like Sean McDonough, especially after he did the 98 game vs UF

McDonough also called the Arkansas game that year and coined "stumbled and fumbled."

I hate to say it, but Ward blew the call. His play by play when Stoerner dropped the ball was about as emotional as Joe Buck calling Tyree's miracle catch in the Super Bowl a few years ago.

To even remotely like Keith Jackson is worthy of a permanent revoke of a Vol card (see Peyton Manning) regardless of his announcing abilities.


And "Whoa nelly" is the stupidest catch phase a professional could ever hang their hat on. He's plain awful. Thank God he retired. Again.
