Worst officiated game in Tenn history

Can Barnes get this game looked at by NCAA and have it ruled as a No Contest since the refs were obviously showing favoritism? Keep our record at 1 loss. Arizona was allowed to play prison rules in this game while we weren’t. This was the worst officiated game I’ve seen us in this season. We deserve the L against Colorado, refs gave us this L against Arizona.
No

At half time I thought: Surely the officials will review the foul count and one-sidedness of the first half and even it up 2nd half.

Instead, it got worse.
So what you want the officials to do is call the approximate number of fouls against both teams so things are “ evened up”, even if one team fouls more than the other.
Really?

Officiating has been awful in college sports for a while now.

It won’t change nor the NCAA cares enough.

It's not simply how many fouls are called, it's when they are called or not called and who they are called on or not called on that truly makes a difference.

Announcers hardly ever comment on officiating but on that one possession even they weren't silent. Then to follow that with that foul out front?

Fouls:
Tennessee 24
Arizona 15

The issue I notice is the inconsistencies between calling touch fouls on Tennessee and allowing Arizona to hand check. I understand giving the home team the benefit, but the refs made it a point to allow Arizona to do what they wanted. I still love our teams toughness.

Sometimes officiating is bad at key moments like the football ole miss game or Purdue game. I am not sure I have ever seen anything like this one where it was really bad for an entire game. I am not sure if they had bets on the game or what, but that was as ridiculous as I have seen.

No, I want them to be consistent and competent. When they are not, I want to see them publicly reprimanded and embarrassed. When they are not: I want to see them, their supervisors, and the talking heads that blindly defend them drawn and quartered at halfcourt before the next game.

Is that really too much to ask???

I was at the Music City Bowl. Entire game. ACC crew had different standards for each team. It was pretty clear.

Every time AZ took the ball inside they called a foul on us no matter what else happened. It was absolutely ridiculous.

UROS ticked the refs off from the start. It was over after that.

Yep, love Uros energy but watching that last night it turned into a quasi Rocky vs the Russian. I know UP is a Serb but you get the comparison. The crowd hated him he got into the face of their Sophomore Center & the crowd & refs took notice. It was on then, in the hostile crowd & Refs he was the villain. Uros sticht plays well at home he’s energetic & not backing down but at their house, not so much. The crowd reminded the refs all game & Refs are human & played along.
Post game Barnes was asked what happened with the post game scuffle. He said not sure what happened, then refrained Uros probably said something.

That official crew should be investigated, that was the most lob sided called game I have ever seen in any sport in my whole life. No wonder Arizona has won 25 straight home games, they got that home cooking. If this is a netruel site game, TN wins big

We will see those frauds in March
This is what I said it’s easily one of the top 10 worst officiated, blatantly, one-sided games I have ever seen in basketball. Three officials on the court watching 10 guys play basketball and all three of them say they don’t see a player get knocked down. Are you kidding? Certainly looked to me like there was a lot of big money on that game!!!

And considering how we only had 10 free throw attempts, all the second half and Arizona still had more attempts in the second half is a total disgrace, but then again it makes it more impressive that we cut it one point and it was only a five point loss! Barnes’s post game spot on!

Totally agree and why refs in all of college are not allowed to be publicly criticized, reprimanded, graded and held accountable is mind blowing!

Well we are statistically getting to the line as much as anyone in the Nation. Was last night an anomaly or was there more to it. I just trust my eyes and what I saw I even saw other boards non UT, saying Vols are getting the West coast jobbing by the refs it was just not us BBALL fans in general.

Discrepancy in the fouls is about the same as it was last year, in our favor at our place.

Uros keeps his mouth shut, Philips plays an average game and we win.

It is not uncommon for home teams to be allowed more physical play. Some are acting like they have never seen this before. It's almost a given.

Actually the Vols had 6 more free throws made last year. Big difference from 16 this year. Arizona had a bunch of fouls called against them the last 6 minutes last year because they had to foul to play catch up.

Basketball fouls are similar to the holding call in football. They could be called every single play but refs are instructed to allow for game flow. That is not what happened last night. It was hard to watch.

It’s basketball. It’s the most arbitrarily officiated sport on the planet. What is a foul in one instance is not in another. It’s always been that way and always will be. That’s why it will never be as popular as football. One reason, at least.

Yes there was definitely missed fouls and the ones towards the end were egregiously very bad, horrible, pathetic..

But can’t have it both ways either. TN-Alabama football game this year Alabama had a record number of penalties, something like 18 to TN much lower amount. Don’t see anyone complaining when it’s the other way.
