Worst one man official ever?

I am sorry that people are passionate about basketball.

Watch the replay, J.P.'s body was directly between the ref and the play and he blew his whistle with the game on the line.

We can argue all day about if it was or was not a foul, the fact is that he had no view of the play and never should have called that foul.

Does it matter, though? The right call was made and that's what matters. STFU already.

No, the refs did a fine job. Much better than the SEC refs throughout the season.

And thank God we didn't have the SEC refs... There were a few calls that could have been made and some that shouldn't have, but it was fairly even.

I don't think anyone can argue that Maze was fouled when he shot the layup over the backboard. The top angle showed the guy reaching over.

You can't blame this one on officiating.

Yes...anyone can blame anything they please. We're fans. How unwise of you to state an absolute...and totally unproveable statement such as that?

Surely you can't be saying officials have absolutely no bearing on the outcome of a game of basketball.? How long have you been watching the game of basketball, 15 minutes?

Get this crap out of here. CBP was out coached 2nd half. We missed some shots that went in against OSU. The officating had nothing to do with it. I think we had players that stepped away from the success of this team and went rouge. Not the officials fault. We walked away from the thing that got us here, teamwork in the 2th half. A lot of pressure and started forcing the issue.

Went "rouge"? :lolabove:

Maze had no buisness being in that situation. Yea he was probably fouled and mugged, but the camera had the best angle to determine the foul. The ref probably saw three white jerseys surrounding an orange one if he could not see it.

This team has been a diamond in the rough for a year of UT sports and managed to make history in the wake of adversity.

Managed to make history and like Hat stated a lot of teams will get to this point and very rarely do they run it to the final 4 on the first go.

I have no problem believing with the coach and team we have that we will make another run at the final 4 in spite of who officiates the game. Can't blame the players and the refs give credit to them for not folding when they could have in Jan.

Some of us sound as bad as Ohio State fans. A group I never want to be associated ever. Officating is not a perfect profession to be in and it is more difficult than most of us will ever know. Calls are missed every game. If we had played as a team and not panic or individualized like we did towards the end of the game this thread would not exist because UT would have won. We were 4 to 6 points better than MSU. We Lost.

If the ref couldn't see that then he was blind.

I can.....Maze put himself into a no win situation by driving so deep under the basket. The big man has every right to stick his arms out over Maze as long as he holds his arms still. Maze caused the contact not the MSU player. You can not penalize the defender for being taller than Maze and sticking his arms out over him causing no contact to be made.
The "no call" was absolutely the right call in that sistuation. The contact was not caused by the defended......no foul.

Emotion can screw up your thinking guys.

Thanks, Dad. Only problem is...we gotta believe our eyes.

No, guy doesn't have the right to hit Maze in the arms. No way. No how.

Wrong call.

See, that is the issue.....Maze caused the contact, not the MSU player.....watch it again

also...tell me why CBP did not go nuts when the no call happened? Answer......It was not a foul. You do not penalize the defense for proper position.

oh...by the way...MY son knows the rules

Well, good for your son. Not sarcastically, really and honestly.

I have a different opinion. Does your son get to have those? You seem to not want us to have one.

So you don't have to be straight up to not get the foul. You can hover and slap the guy on his shooting hand?
That was a missed call in the closing minutes of the game. It doesn't matter if Maze or someone else was the player.

I will agree that there were more no calls than there should have been. But I can't remember any bad calls on either team though. So it wasn't the refs who lost the game.

It was the missed opportunities and missed free throw that caused us the game.

Although it was a well fought, great game by each team. Unfortunately we came up short in this one.

JP looked like he was trying to split that dude's head open with a hatchet. I'm not surprised that got called. I'm more upset about the travel that wasn't called on the previous MSU possession.

And then sat there and said, "How can you call that?" over and over. Glad he's gone even if he did play well in the tournament. I will not miss him.

You can't blame this one on officiating.

Here's the thing. Although there were bad no calls the refs actually got it right in the end. The call on the MSU player that fouled Hopson @ the end was right and the call on Prince at the very end of the game was right as well. The refs should not have waited til the end of the game to start calling fouls. That's not how it should go down. That's when you let them play, not when you decide the fate of the game by calling a foul.

I am as upset as anyone else. But to say we did not get any calls, come on.What about the back court? We through the ball all the way to the time line and Scotty catches it in the front court and turns and tosses it into the back court. We go back and score after that play. The refs are human and they are going to miss some.If no foul is called at the end and we go on to win then MSU is moaning they got screwed.Part of it.thats why they are human.I love my VOLS and can't wait till FOOTBALL season GBO!!!!!!!!!
