Worst one man official ever?

It was not over and back because he was straddling the line.

When you know all the rules of basketball it helps you spot the crap.

TN got screwed often when MSU "blocked" a shot by hitting someone on the arm and head. The OP is right. If you taped the game on DVR and rewatched it you would agree with him.

Yes...anyone can blame anything they please. We're fans. How unwise of you to state an absolute...and totally unproveable statement such as that?

Surely you can't be saying officials have absolutely no bearing on the outcome of a game of basketball.? How long have you been watching the game of basketball, 15 minutes?
No, I've most likely been watching longer than you. Long enough to know that before you cry about the refs, there are 5 or 6 other areas of the game where the Vols could have won it, but didn't. There are some bad calls every game, it happens. There were a couple today for sure. But to act like we lost this game because we didn't a call is ridiculous.

The old ref with the gray hair on the baseline made calls on us and none on them the whole time. He singlehandedly, in my mind, cost us the game.

Just two examples of his incompetency are, obviously, the last call(on jp), and the one where thorton dragged bone to the ground.

such BS.

EDIT: Yes it was a great and hard fought game. I applaud our players for their efforts.

However I cant just help but imagine what would have been if this ref didnt make so many bad calls.

refs have been bad the whole tourney. the ncaa should start checking bank accounts because some of the calls are a joke. i mean when a guy takes 4 steps while carrying the ball that is still a travel right. the officials have been worse this year than any other tourney i can remember.

Did the official really expect us to believe that he shot the ball over the backboard on a lay-up without anyone hitting him?? Come on.

Im not saying we lost the game do to officiating b/c I dont want to take anything away from our guys, they laid it all out on the line and came up just a little short.

But was it just me or did MST players have more moving screens than I have ever seen in my entire life, even in a church pick up game.

if our defense hadn't let that dude get behind them all, there probably is no debate about whether that last play was a foul or not (it was).

As long as there are prizes and money at the end of a rainbow, cheating will be somewhere in the mix.

Prince mugged the guy, clear as day.

Check out the enlarged photo on the front page of the Sports section in this A.M.'s edition of the TENNESSEAN (Nashville). Sure looks like a clean block to me. Also, that ref was behind the play and in no position to make the call. Still, if we make the FT's and hustle back on defense that last time, we win. We didn't and we didn't. Sadly, a game we should have won.

Here's one of the better views of it, it comes at about the 1:00 mark of the video

Yahoo! Sports Minute

regardless it should have never come to that, the Vols had their chances in an extremely tough hard fought game, the stats are almost identical with the main difference of us being 14-21 from the line while they were 16-21

There's a difference between being passionate and being delusional.

Some people have went over board.

To blame officiating for this loss is ludicrous.

And what descriptive adjective would you choose to apply to the sentence "Some people have went over board."?? It pays to proof-read these things, 15, but, hell, you might talk like that all the time. Hope not.

Agree, VW, but it's seldom called anymore.

Maybe you have been watching longer than me. I wouldn't wish that (being that old) on anyone but, if so...take your vitamins, get plenty of rest, and don't slip and break a hip....'cause I'm really old. I mean really. Disgustingly old.

I didn't help hang the peach basket...but I suggested that they cut out the bottom for faster access. People were always hiding to keep from dragging the ladder over to get the ball out. Five years later, after arguing about it ruining the game by speeding it up to a breakneck pace of 10 points an hour, they finally agreed to cut the bottom of the basket out. Some say the game was ruined at that point. :peace2:
