Would Bama/Auburn in the East Save Rivalries?

Yes. But you would need two more west schools (plus Missouri). Don't see that happening unless Texas gives up and joins, which I don't see happening.

This would have 9 of the 15 BCS champions in one division. That's just nasty, but it would make for some great games every week.

That would make the East Division stronger than every conference in America.

Alabama (3x BCS champs)
Auburn (1x BCS champs)
Florida (2x BCS champs)
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee (1x BCS champs)

To those saying it makes the division harder, you are right but it mostly makes the division harder for everyone else in the division since we already play Alabama. I'll play Auburn every year if UGA and Florida have to play Bama every year. A&M and LSU are clearly the winner in that scenario but we would be the team with the next biggest benefit.

That would be crazy ridiculous to have Auburn and Alabama in the East. The winner of the A&M / LSU game would be automatic for the SEC Championship

The east is hard enough as it is.

the east is pretty easy.

that's the honest truth.

has there ever been more than 3 teams in the division worth a damn in the same season?

looking at history, it's a safe bet that kentucky, vanderbilt, and missouri are going to suck. maybe there's a year here or there, but on average, that's a win.

then, south carolina has to prove they will be a consistent winner post spurrier.

what you have left is florida, georgia and tennessee. it's been rare that they have all been good at the same time.

i know i speak from a very biased perspective here, but the east is cupcake city compared to the sec west.

You are correct. The East's all-time winning percentage is way, way worse than the West's.

the great lie is that the east was better in the 90's.

no, the east wasn't better. florida and tennessee were the best two teams in the league. but measuring one division against the other, the west was and always has been better.

How about no divisions??????? Just like BB. Keep your rivals and rotate the rest of the league.

The NCAA requires divisions for a championship game. The league makes too much money on the SECCG to give that up willingly.

Send the barn to the east and the west takes Tennessee. The barn gets Georgia and the third week in October is saved.

That wouldn't get us much further, because then the Iron Bowl would require a permanent cross-divisional game.

No thanks!!

The problem will be solved when the SEC is pressured into a 9-game conf schedule about 2015...

Where's the pressure going to come from? I don't think the rest of 'college football nation' is going to be able to pressure the SEC into anything, at the rate things are going.
