Would Hart make a decision based on......

How about the same creepy fascination with Lane Kiffin. We have so e real nut jobs.

And you have done nothing but stalk UT fans for not liking how the team was playing when on the bubble. Get over it, or keep crying. Crying seems to suit you well.

what other AD's in the SEC do?

In the SEC recently, most schools have hired some well-known and successful Head Coaches. It seems the SEC are becoming a league with a lot fighting power among the names.

Auburn - Bruce Pearl, South Carolina - Frank Martin, Kentucky - Calipari, Florida - Donovan, Arkansas - Mike Anderson, etc.....

Let's say a school like Georgia, Ole Miss, etc... fires their coach who was never a huge success.

What if one of these schools get a "splash" hire like Ben Howland?

You think Hart would look into a "stronger name" just because of that? Or do you think he's not concern at all what the other schools are planning on doing?

CCM will get an extension if he wants it. No way he is let go. We would never be able to hire a big name coach if we let him go after this run.

Not only will he stick with Coach Martin, one more win and he will give him a big raise ( or someone will hire him away) and he will give him a 2 year extension at least.. With one more win, (sweet 16) Coach Martin drives the bus!

Cunzo is not going anywhere unless it is by his choice He has his team in the round of 32 and should advance to the sweet 16..

I was as disappointed with the play of this team at times throughout the season as anyone and knew they were capable of doing better. Was it the coaching, the team chemistry, lack of effort, or just over rated talent. It took Maymon a while to start playing like he did before his injury, and Martin didn't fit in early on which threw a freshman point guard into the mix.
Toward the end of conference play, they started playing as a team and looked much better. Don't expect any change in coaching with the success the team has had in the last 6-7 games.

You people have underestimated how tough a schedule this team had this year.

UTEP 23-11, lost in CBI tournament
Xavier 21-13, lost in NCAA
Wichita State 35-0, in NCAA
NC State 22-14, went 1-1 in NCAA
Kentucky 25-10 in NCAA
Florida 33-2, in NCAA
Missouri 23-11, in 2nd round of NIT
Texas A&M 18-15, in 2nd round of CBI
Vanderbilt 15-16, the only loser they lost

Yes, they had some disappointing losses, but they were not to bad teams.

Did you clowns know that as of this morning the SEC has 8 teams in post season tournaments and they are 9-0!! This so called weak conference may have been underrated.

I'd let the guy coach next year for a 4 year extension. If he doesn't do well, you could just not extend him opposed to firing him.

If you don't extend him for two years now, it is program suicide. A lame duck coach will not succeed on the recruiting trail. Either extend him for two years or fire him. Anything in between is setting the program back more than him failing would.

That's a fact, I do think Hart will do a better job with that. I think or previous ad would have extended Conzo last year. I wonder what he will do as far as contract this off season. I think he has enough confidence in himself that if he wants to wait to see how next year is going before he extends it wouldn't surprise me. Neither would a short extension soon. The other aspect is does he have someone he wants and is he waiting to see if Conzo moves on his own.

If Dave Hart wants Martin as his coach (and after the last 3 weeks I believe this to be the case), he will give him an extension and raise. He has to give an extension. No other way around it. Martin's contract runs out in 2016, and he would basically be a lame duck coach. That is unheard of in college and setting Martin up to fail. Unless Martin leaves for another job, I think they will probably add two more years.

I remain convinced the people that say crap like this never watched a minute of UT basketball before they heard that Pearls team was fun to watch. There's just no explanation for this creepy fascination with Pearl.

I'm convinced the holdouts for 'you know who' or another coach are just doing it for the heck of it now or like you say because of their very creepy fascination for another man. Stir the pot. The smarter one's have come around, realize we're on an NCAAT run and are giving the team and coaches their props which they richly deserve.

No self respecting coach would go for that. I'd bet there isn't a coach on the planet that would go for that and you'd have to be a bumbling idiot of an AD to even propose an idea like that. But all this groundless speculation has certainly been a great source of comic relief for me.

With a fan base like we are, Cuonzo might jump to the Big 10 if the opportunity arises. I've been critical of him but how can you not support a guy who has his team a win away from the Sweet Sixteen?

Don't bring logic into this forum, it will scare the children. Coach Martin is padding his resume for his next job with these wins. We will be lucky to hang on to him. When he leaves Le miserables will be right back at home.

Happens a lot more than you think. I actually like Martin though. Defense does win championships in almost every sport.

This.

And if he makes the Sweet 16 and you fire him, it's program suicide. No coach worth anything would consider this place.

How many times are you gonna ask the same thing Dougie? It's like url looking for any hope Hart fires CCM, you've now turned to, well maybe other SEC schools hire big names.

News flash...Frank Martin ain't doing $hit at South Carolina.

Hart likely wasn't gonna fire Martin after the Missouri win, even if we made the NIT. He wasn't gonna fire him after we made the dance. He sure as heck wasn't gonna fire him after we beat Iowa, and he sure as heck isn't gonna fire him after beating UMASS. If Zo isn't here next year it's because he left on his own, not because Hart felt the need to make a "splash" hire.

I honestly can't believe this thread is even a reality right now. We're about to play for the Sweet 16, which is what everyone thought we should do this year, and someone is still contemplating how Hart might justify firing Martin.

No, I don't think it happens at all. College coaches never have two years or less left on a contract. Never. You may be thinking of pro coaches.
