Would Hart make a decision based on......

Auburn - Bruce Pearl, South Carolina - Frank Martin, Kentucky - Calipari, Florida - Donovan, Arkansas - Mike Anderson, etc.....

I would not trade Cuonzo for any of those coaches other than Donovan (or younger version of coach K or Rick Pittino if you would have mentioned them). But given enough time Cuonzo will certainly do at least as well as any of the other coaches you mentioned.

At least as well as Calipari? As in win a NC? You have a lot of faith in CCM. I don't think that's impossible for him, but that is some high praise.

what other AD's in the SEC do?

In the SEC recently, most schools have hired some well-known and successful Head Coaches. It seems the SEC are becoming a league with a lot fighting power among the names.

Auburn - Bruce Pearl, South Carolina - Frank Martin, Kentucky - Calipari, Florida - Donovan, Arkansas - Mike Anderson, etc.....

Let's say a school like Georgia, Ole Miss, etc... fires their coach who was never a huge success.

What if one of these schools get a "splash" hire like Ben Howland?

You think Hart would look into a "stronger name" just because of that? Or do you think he's not concern at all what the other schools are planning on doing?

Doug, you do understand that all that stands in the way of this team being in the sweet 16 is Mercer right? Are you really talking about a coaching change or do you not understand how the NCAA tournament works? Why are we having this conversation?

I think CCM was gone after this season based on the reasoning why Hart didn't give an extension.

Lose - Hart fires him

Win - Hart let's him go to whatever "school" CCM would rather be at.

I don't think CCM was looking to be TN for a long time. If he leaves, this is the perfect timing.

Hart didn't extend him because he didn't have to, Martin had 3 years remaining on his contract, no reason to extend.

What school would Martin rather be at? You keep saying this but provide nothing to support the opinion.

Hart will do what the money tells him to do. He doesn't have free will. His job is to erase the debit of UT athletics.

I agree, but they would have to have an opening. Painters resume dwarfs Martin's

I'm not sure where this is coming from, but Matt Painter isn't leaving Purdue any time soon, even if it is for purely financial reasons. Painter signed a new 8 year contract 2 years ago, and Purdue couldn't buy him out if they wanted to at this point. Maybe in 3 more years, but Painter is a good coach and should have them turned around by then. Purdue had their shot at Martin when Keady retired, but went with Paitner instead. I would say that professionally Martin would have more loyalty to U.T.

If you're letting talk radio influence your thinking then take a step back and watch some interviews with Coach Martin. All the man talks about is never giving up and battling through adversity. The man lives for this stuff. He's our coach now, time to rebuild that marriage.

Dougie is looking for any angle that Martin isn't our coach

How many times are you gonna ask the same thing Dougie? It's like url looking for any hope Hart fires CCM, you've now turned to, well maybe other SEC schools hire big names.

News flash...Frank Martin ain't doing $hit at South Carolina.

Hart likely wasn't gonna fire Martin after the Missouri win, even if we made the NIT. He wasn't gonna fire him after we made the dance. He sure as heck wasn't gonna fire him after we beat Iowa, and he sure as heck isn't gonna fire him after beating UMASS. If Zo isn't here next year it's because he left on his own, not because Hart felt the need to make a "splash" hire.

Word!

Wes Rucker and Bill King were saying that CCM should jet after the season, even if the move is lateral, because he doesnt fit at UT. I'm sure the thought has crossed CCMs mind often.

Anyone who listens to those fools are idiots. They think they know, but they don't know squat.

I'm fascinated by the motivation of players by Pearl which got us to the big dance 6 times, and within a basket of the Final Four. I'm fascinated that he was building a program that was beginning to attract the attention of blue-chip players all over the country. The enthusiasm, charisma and winning spirit he brought to UT was also fascinating ... and contagious.

He had an uncanny ability to motivate no doubt. But I laugh at him and still do. He's a cartoon.
