It just doesn't seem like with the CFP that winning a conference title isn't as prestigious as it once was, would we be better off in the ACC or Big 12? It's not like the SEC is like it used to be...

If we were sitting at 10-2 in the ACC, we would be absolute toast in the playoff discussion rather than on the cusp. Stupid, stupid thing to ask.

Go to the ACC championship, win and you get an automatic bid and an extra week to prepare. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

The Vols and Bama could still schedule an annual out of conference match-up to keep the rivalry alive.

I don’t like the idea. But, OP is probably thinking we’d be 10-0 or 9-1 if we were in the ACC right now and safely be in the playoffs. Again, I would rather stay in the SEC for a host of different reasons but it’s also pretty clear that other programs are having an easier time with the rankings (e.g., Miami, PSU, Indiana, etc) bc they haven’t played much competition (or maybe had one tough game and lost it).

No. The B1G is the only comparable league. Conference payouts are smaller in the other 2 "power 4" conferences and we'd see a drop off in quality along with the resources. The prestige isn't close either. Even moving to the B1G would be lateral at best, and would be terrible PR. Tennessee is a founding member of the SEC and will ride or die with it. Better to try to change things here if we don't like them.

If we were in the ACC we'd be a team full of ACC recruits. We'd be an ACC team. Moving conferences is more than who you play it affects who wants to play for you and how much money you make. There aren't droves of kids in California, Texas, Georgia, or Florida who dream of playing in the ACC. The vast majority of DIV1 talent is in those 4 states. Being in the ACC would also negatively affect the Budget.

There seems to always be some mentality of I'm not the biggest bully so I'll leave and go somewhere I can be. Instead of doing the work to be that guy. not directed at you @Volfan8282 just the general feel of the op

I hate having conference prestige to lure 5 start recruits............and those 10's of millions of dollars to throw at recruits, fan experience, stadium upgrades?? YUCK!!!!!!

I vote a BIG Sky move is in order. #I support this post #never going back

Well we lose to mediocre to bad teams every year, so the idea that going to the ACC means we will no long see any Arkansas or Gainesville, or SC losses from the past few years is foolish.
