The Alabama game was exciting and awesome home win. Getting to storm the field, parade the goal posts through Knoxville and make Nicky cry. Hard to beat…

BUT

Knowing how good this team is if you were told that this year this team only got to beat either Alabama or Georgia in the regular season.

Would you take the awesome Neyland experience on that night over Alabama or would you choose to lose to Alabama that night and beat Georgia to assure you get into SEC CG and the NC and Georgia watches from the sidelines.

For those that say beat both I get it but I am asking would you trade that win knowing how the NC entry race seem to be shaping up.

I would choose the SECCG/NC and the win over Georgia in the regular season and beating Satan in the SECCG.

Can't do it. That night was pure magic. The storming, the goalposts, stadium playing Dixieland Delight-perfect.

I get your point of trading it for a greater purpose, but we still have the opportunity to have our cake and eat it too. Nothing's guaranteed, but it's available to us

I do believe during preseason, we had people predicting this upset of at least one possibility. They said so while flying in the face of those of us who foresaw loses to Bama, GA, Fla (us crapping the bed as usual), and LSU.

No...not even close.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth by the bammars made that win epic on a level we arent likely to see again.

And besides, i have faith that CJH and company will get it done and win the East. If not this year then soon.

Nothing like that experience beating Bama. Trading one for the other doesn't guarantee the playoff. Just the opposite in my opinion. "IF" we fall short this week, we have a better chance to make it in the playoff. If we had lost to Bama, we would have to win the SECcg to go to the playoff. They aren't going to take a 2 loss team for a 4 team playoff this year. If we win this week...assuming we beat the little sisters of the poor remaining on our schedule...I think we are a lock for the playoff. Win the SECcg...obviously in. Lose and split the 2 games with Bama...both in and let the committee sort out the seeding and hope for the rubber match in the National Championship game.

I'm still in shock that we are even entertaining these possibilities in Year 2. Danny boy better open up the checkbook and lock him in.

We had to end that BAMA streak, We had to end that Gator streak, We had to the the PITT streak, We had to end the LSU streak, and now we are going to end the Dawg streak! It's not about choices, it's a new way of life so get used to it and stop thinking negatively!

No. The Bama win is the best Tennessee game I've seen in my life.

Also our best chance at the CFP could arguably Bama over UGA. IF (we won't) lost to UGA closely, we are more likely to make it the playoff than if we lost to Bama, beat UGA and had to play Bama again. If we didn't beat Bama at home, we wouldn't beat them on a neutral site later in the year.

Following the rules you've laid out, if I had to pick, still Alabama. If we do lose to UGA, I think they knock off the Bammers in Atlanta and we slide in with our only loss on the road to the #1 ranked team as long as we keep it close. Plus the national attention and exposure of that game, the recruits in attendance, the memories, etc. You can't replace that, even w/a trip the SEC Championship.

Of course F all of that. WGWTFA.

Ending that streak was worth it. While losing to UGA takes some of the post season out of our control I still think the Bama win was huge for the program.
Breaking the Bama streak was more important than any other realistic accomplishment we had this season. Everything else is gravy. Even if we were to say lose 2 more games this season it's worth it. A 10 win season with one of them over bana is priceless. Our rivalry with GA has been a lot more even the past 20 years while with Bama was owning us the way we own KY and Vandy. That was the biggest monkey hands down.

I know folks are gonna flame but we have already overachieved this season and anything outside of a complete meltdown going forward is better than anyone with sense expected before the season. We already have 8 wins... With at least 3 more on deck.

Nah, beating Bama after so long is better, and doing so in hope crushing fashion for them, priceless! They will stay on top for longer than even Georgia can hope for.

Breaking the streak was worth it, they still haven't recovered from that. Also a lot of ESPN people thing that even if we lose to GA and Bama wins the SECCG, we're getting in either way. It'll be GA who may be on the outside looking in. Even on their models our chances to make the playoff doesn't drop that much with a loss to GA.

I think right now, whether we win or lose we're in.
