UT basketball is so much better than it used to be. It takes time to build a championship program. When we beat Memphis two years ago, we were #1! After 1 down season, a season in which we still won 20 games and made it to the NCAA, so many posters are down on Pearl. What's up with that? Remember Wade Houston team that only won 5 games the whole year? Remember Buzz, he played "traditional basketball" but we never even sniffed the NCAA's! What we are missisng is a point guard! Yes, Pearl has not been able to land that elite point guard so we are having to win ugly right now, but I think Pearl will find a way to win a lot of games this year! Sooner or later Pearl will get all the pieces we need and make that run to "elite" status. For now let's just enjoy having a good team that expects to win, expects to make it to the tourney every year. Sooner or later we will make it to the next level.

Bottom line is that for whatever reason, we have fans who want to compare us to Duke, UK and UNC...They will not be pleased with Bruce Pearl as a coach unless he gets to the Final Four, but if he does that, they will say he needs to win a NC.

Bruce with Hopson and T Harris is bringing in the types of players he needs to get to the level people want. I truly believe Brian Williams is the last Pearl project who will see significant minutes. Soon we will be talent wise on the same level as all but 1 or 2 schools we play per year (Kansas and UK this year for instance) and we will be able to do what Pearl has done in most cases, beat teams that are not as good as us by a lot, and beat some teams that have more talent.

Aside from the idiotic jealousy of Pearl, the main dislike people have is that they do not like his offense. Reading the comments is kind of like listening to people complaining under Meyer that they hate the spread and "all he does is run the QB". Most people on here who dislike Pearl want a slow pace. I hate watching Wisconsin, but Bob Knight and these former coaches of not very good teams love it.

Pearl with McCrae and Golden and then Ware will have better talent in the back court than he ever has before. You are right to be pleased and optimistic, ignore those who think the SEC is a bad conference and Bruce Pearl is a bad coach.

you don't get it, period. Have you been around basketball enough to understand how to win at it? I get the impression that it's something you watch but have no firsthand experience. Is that right? Is that why you inundate us with stats, recruiting rankings and regular season wins info? Just trying to understand where you're coming from here, seriously.

I think we have reached our peak under Pearl. I really like the guy, I never thought I would ever see UT basketball this good. But with his style neither team is ever out of the game, if we are up 20 or down 20 the game is not over. I don't believe this style will ever allow us to get much further than the sweet 16, maybe elite 8 one day. Our guys take way too many 3s. When you live and die by the 3, as we do, if you are ever off in a game against a really good team, you are done. We may get better when pretenders like Hopson and Smith are gone. These 2 are really good against lower teams but they tend to disappear against really good teams.

I'd rather have fans and friends for that fact, who are open and honest. It can only benefit the program in the long run.

I do think with 4 seniors Bruce needs to do more than he has so far during his tenure. Now if Tyler and Wayne went down with injury I would change the bar, but if that does not happen I still want the Elite 8.

I do not see any previous teams and think that we should have gone lots further than we did. Our best team was the one that lost by one to Oden, Conley and the Buckeyes. I groaned when the brackets came out and I saw Louisville.

The criticism that Pearl has not been able to get a good guard in here who he can develop is somewhat valid. He did take J Smith and maximize his ability, but we have never had the PG's necessary to effectively press and press break since Pearl has been coach. I think the next two years all of that will be fixed. It just breaks my heart that we will not see E Man running with T Harris and Kenny Hall as one of the most athletic front courts in basketball.

It's shocking that this team "underachieves" with such a supportive fan base.....pathetic.

Let's just run Pearl out since he's taken us to his peak - maybe we could get Peterson back or O'Neil or Green even. Yeah, Pearl is awful for UT. Jerk only has the best winning percentage ever and only took us to our first ever #1 ranking. Punk also keeps recruiting 4 and 5 star athletes. We should be upset! I mean, this is Tennessee basketball! Look at the rafters! Our championships speak for themselves! Sad how far we've fallen. Pre-season top 10 team....so sad. Probably make the NCAA tournament again too - I hate Pearl.....

He dissed Houston by not mentioning him as a possible replacement for Pearl. He obviously didn't get the official Sycophants of Tanning Bed memo that states The Houston Error must be referenced in any post attempting to fluff Pearl's accomplishments.

Then, the myriad of "We Luv Brooce" posts can be merged to make it look like a KNS article with comments. It'll make Griff feel at home and give the Sycophants of Tanning Bed a cyberchurch for their worship.

I certainly wish I had some experience from which to draw my opinions, but, alas, I only get to guess. As to your comment about the crowd, that's just senseless. I root for the Vols loudly every time I'm at any of their games, regardless of sport. What I do or don't say on this board has absolutely nothing to do with the crowd. Maybe that's conceptually tough for you to reconcile, but it's reality.

Your reasoning and facts simply make no sense. Try something different.

Sorry then - UT is awful. Pearl is a trainwreck. We should bring in Roy Williams. He loves our tradition and is a fool for going somewhere else - especially UNC

I'm glad so many posters on here dislike success. If we were Kentucky we could complain about not making it to at least the elite 8. But, the next time we make it will be the first. Pearl has given us the best chance at that.

I do like how many on here come to simply bash. Sorry to attempt to bring optimism. Why try to support something when it is so easy to make fun of it.....well have fun bashing this post too - the short time I've been on this thread proves that it is coming...
