Wow Leonard Little just tweeted saying:

"While i'm still upset. Please don't call everyone who has left UT a #VFL because some of those guys would rather forget their days at Tennessee and move on without even acknowledging the school"

After leaving a birthday party in 1998, Leonard Little crashed into and killed Susan Gutweiler in St. Louis, Missouri. His blood alcohol level measured 0.19 and Little received four years probation in conjunction with 1,000 hours of community service. Not much for taking a young woman's life and not someone you particularly want as a VFL.

How in the hell is a speeding ticket compared to someone dying? When someone dies they don't come back, ever. Instead of defending the guy think about how her family feels.

no one comes back when they die in a wreck because someone was talking on their cellphone either.

im not defending him, it was wrong. we all know that.

but LIFE GOES ON. i know people who got DUI's in their teens that have had trouble getting decent jobs for the next 40 years because of these hypocrites.

dangerous driving can potentially result in death whether its drinking, texting, speeding, slapping your kid in the backseat whatever. get off your damn high horse and understand that.

Man, lots of high and mighty's on this thread. I swear Volnation has to be one of the most unforgiving places ever. I'm definitely not condoning any of LL's past issues but I'm sure he is living with his guilt every day. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't need any of you reminding him of what he did. It's like every time is Ainge mentioned on here some doofus has to bring up his past transgressions. We all know the story. I guess sitting anonymously behind a computer screen will make y'all a bunch of uppity's who've never made a mistake before. Maybe a little self perspective would help. Doubt it though.

EVERYONE makes mistakes.

Wow, either I'm crazy or a lot of ya'll are. I think this board is attacking a guy for standing up for our program and calling out those that turn their backs on it.

The self righteousness in this thread is appalling. Until you walk a mile in a man's shoes, you should keep your mouth shut.

This whole thread is a big FAIL. He said this and meant that about him who talked with someone else who said what to them about her but meant this...

What a waste of time. WHO CARES. Move on.

I'm not sure what LL's comments were in reference to. I will guess that if we were competing for the SEC East this year and ranked in the top 25 this comment and others would have never been uttered.

When you cross below a certain threshold, comments and statements like this are to be expected.

I'm sorry, but speeding and running yellow lights are completely different than DUI. I will admit I've done all three in my younger days, regretfully, so I have a basis of comparison too. Speeding and running yellow lights can be dangerous, but you are at least cognizant of what's going on around you. You are not impaired. The same cannot be said about DUI.

I'm not trying to dogpile on LL, but reality is reality. I love what he did as a Vol, but I hate that he made a decision that led to the death of a woman. I cannot understand how, after killing someone, he made the mistake of DUI again. Call a cab or a friend or just walk home. You don't make the same decision that previously led to the death of someone. In defense of that woman's family, that action in no way showed regret or remorse. I'm not going to pretend that I know what goes on in LL's mind, but his actions are indefensible. I would hope he feels the same.

The fact that you are cognizant and willfully do those things makes it just as bad. Im not defending LL, just saying everyone makes mistakes but shouldnt pile on one guy to make themselves feel better about their own bad decisions.

EVERYONE makes mistakes.

Did he mistakenly drink too much alcohol and mistakenly drive a motor vehicle? I feel fairly confident that he did both of those things on purpose. And any adult of sound mind knows that your judgement and reaction time are hindered while intoxicated.

Well I guess I'm a drunk murderer too because I have driven after drinking.. They were terrible mistakes, but I could've just as easily killed someone..

I'm not sure how u came to the conclusion tht he has gone on like nothing happened.. I'd bet anything that he wishes he could take that day back and do it over.. It wasn't premeditated.. It was a mistake.

IMO, u are a sick human being for talking that way about someone who made a mistake like that.. I'd say it has haunted his dreams..

Really?

Is that why 6 years after he killed that woman while driving drunk he again was arrested for DWI?

Some of you people are unbelievable. If Little had played for Alabama all of his defenders in this thread would be mercilessly trashing him.

I really wish the OP would qualify within the original post for clarity sake. We obviously have a plethora of posters with reading comprehenson skills below 1st grade level around here and/or extremely drunk after the game.

It sounds a lot more like he's calling someone (or some few) out rather than commenting about today's game / the state of the team

Didn't you know that everything HAS to refer to the current team and in particular to the fact that Dooley should be fired? That's relevant to every possible conversation.

You have gotten a speeding ticket or ran a yellow liggt or something else. You dont want to admit it because you know willfully speeding is just as dangerous as drunk driving. They are both huge mistakes. The only difference is LL had a tragic accident and you have not.

I myself have driven drunk, stoned, on pills, sped intentionally, willfully broken numerous traffic laws, been the recipient of sexual favors, dozed off, etc. Each instance has been a mistake and ive been incredibly lucky not to have something like that happen to me.

I really didn't want to get involved in this discussion, but statistically speaking that isn't even close to being true.

Speeding is dangerous, but by trying to equate it to driving drunk it really just sounds like you're either trying to rationalize driving drunk or troll that other poster. There's a reason why the penalties for drunk driving are so much steeper than for speeding.

How many fatalities are caused by drunk drivers per year as opposed to fatalities caused by accidents not involving alcohol. Im not trying to rationalize drunk driving, only pointing out that breaking the law by driving drunk and breaking the law by speeding are both dangerous, both can have catastrophic consequences, and both are breaking the law. People who knowingly doing 100 in a 55 are just as dangerous as a drunk driver. Being intoxicated cuts down reaction time. The faster you are traveling, the less time you have to react and make critical decisions. Therefore, if you have ever willfully attained excessive speed while driving you have had just as much potential to harm another human being as someone who has driven drunk.

vehicular homocide is bad. be honest tho, how many of you have gone to dinner and had a drink then got back in the car and drove home. that is how vehicular homocide happens, no one knows whether he did it this way or was binge drinking and decided to get in the car. I am sure he regrets the decision every day. besides people are taking what he said wrong. completely, isnt that right, donte

considering BAC of most people doing this would be .02 or less, after one hour, this isn't really a good argument

okay point taken then take it to the next step. how many stop at one

Not many, including the many hypocrites that feel the need to give constant reminders about other peoples transgressions. Has more to do with their individual low self esteem and insecurities than their 'righteous' anger about the topic they brought up to begin with.

This thread reads like a bunch of people jumping to conclusions then defending their statements to the death of them.

Little wasn't saying anything about the program today, the fans, the coaches, the current players, any of that.

He was pointing out that the fans have bought into this VFL thing, and some of these guys that were on the team that got booted or left have moved on.

We have no idea in what context he posted the original tweet. He could have seen someone say "This wouldn't happen if Da'Rick was on the field #VFL"
who knows

He wasn't saying that he isn't VFL. He wasn't saying that his teammates from the 90's aren't VFL. He's saying that some of the fans think that anyone who ever put on orange is VFL, and that's not the case.

It's different for everyone, and the players all had different experiences and circumstances that would shape the way in which they view their time on The Hill.

But some of you need to get off your high horse. People make mistakes. A JUDGE (someone who gets paid to care more about this stuff than you do) already issued Little his punishment and he's done what he was ordered to do. He's trying to move on, and so should you. It's not your job to ring the alarm every time you feel an evil-doer is around. Little's history is well known, people can have differing opinions on it, you don't have to pioneer the "FORGIVE NO ONE" movement.
