'18 WR Jaylon Robinson (Ole Miss Commit)

If TN wants him that bad, he’d be an absolute fool to go to Ole Miss.
Don't know if we wanted him "that bad"

I think we approached him and communicated with him in the exact manner that a player of his stature would require. I think Ole Miss and Miami are running up his value and worth in the market. Heupel knows him well, obviously, if we thought he was a must-have, we would have treated this differently.

Like I said, I think this more of a PR move and transfer portal ad for Ole Miss than it is a big win for a strong contributor. Don't think he will do poorly, or anything like that, but he's not worth all of this (and Heupel & staff played it that way)

If we want him he’s ours.

The fact that we’re even entertaining the thought of adding another receiver should tell you all you need to know about how the staff sees that position.

Based on your first post, I guess the fact that he’s not a Vol should tell you all you need to know about how the staff sees that position.

This kid was going to be another slot receiver in a WR room full of slots if he came here. While he has proven production in Heupel's offense, I don't think his ceiling is as high as Hyatt or Callaway. Bringing him in for one season may have ultimately only delayed their development. It definitely would have taken away reps from Squirrel White. That's if he even won the starting position, which wasn't guaranteed. He's virtually penciled in at Ole Miss. Ole Miss has a lot of unknowns with the departure of Lebby and all the key features on offense being transfers, but on paper it's pretty impressive.

Yeah, have to be careful with the transfers you take. Calloway, Merrill, Hyatt and White were all ranked higher than this guy from their respective years.

The difference is opportunity. Robinson had a ton of opportunities at UCF under Heupel.
Now Heupel needs to have a little more faith in the WRs he has.
He was doing that same crap that Pruitt was doing with the QBs in 2020 with Bailey, Maurer and Shrout. Made one mistake and you were on the bench.

“We didn’t want him anyway”

Lol

Guys didn't get benched due to one mistake last year. Hyatt has openly admitted what his issues were last season, and it has been well documented that Callaway didn't have the work habits in practice necessary to earn trust and playing time after the big drop at Florida. He just went with the flow and showed no sense of urgency. That demeanor doesn't fit the coaches theme of Attack! Attack! Attack!

It's hard to attack being on the sideline...🙄.

We'll agree to disagree
