WR Kenny O'Neal- 4 Star- 4.26 40

He got in trouble at FSU repeatedly and was eventually kicked off for violating team rules.

NOOOOO!!!! We don't need anybody that was kicked out of F$U!!! You know he must have been nothing but trouble for Bobby to boot him. I don't care if he runs a 2.6 in the 40, we don't need kids with questionable character.

I know its your opinion and all, but I do not think it is anywhere near a done deal that Meach leaves. Its certainly possible and the coaches are probably preparing like he will. Thats the smart thing. But, his draft status is not going to be as high as it will be if he stays another year. He will be told he would be the #1 WR on the draft board in 2008 and that along with his relationship with Trooper Taylor might keep him in school. Not to mention, its not all about getting money NOW. I do not doubt that Meach could make a similar decision to that of Harrell. He might say he is just not mentally or emotionally ready to move on to the NFL. Its a job, a grueling job, and some kids realize that college football is a cake-walk compared to the lifestyle changes of the NFL. Meach has not addressed the issue yet, its just a waiting game at this point. Either way though, we need help at WR next season.

you make valid points, but with Inky's injury fresh in their minds, I cant see him staying

You are right, seeing Inky and Harrell both get injured will certainly play into the equation. And, if he does decide to go nobody will blame him.

I certainly wont, I think he's ready, he seems to have an NFL body. I just wish we had gotten more than one year's worth of all-american production out of him, but what an attribute he has been in 06

I wish we had gotten rid of Pat Washington a long time ago. Meachem got worse with his time here, until this season. His high school coaching was probably superior until Trooper took over.

I haven't seen any specific sub-forums but rest assured if you float a topic you are going to get legitimate information and a whole lot of opinions, good and bad. Welcome and good luck.

After last night, Meachem might have found a reason to stay his SR year. He got shut down pretty good against a physical corner. He has to get more physical for the next level.

Absolutely. If the hippie from Arkansas shut him down like that last night, he can only imagine what awaits him in the NFL. He has made a huge turnaround this year from last under Trooper, so another year would do him wonders. We'll see what he decides.

he was completely frustrated and that db got in his head, reverted back to butter hands a couple of times. If our wr's catch the ball maybe the mo doesnt get away from us....who am I kidding, our coaches didnt have an answer for anything

The coaches didn't get blown off the ball in the first half. The coaches didn't let DB's keep them from releasing downfield. The coaches didn't drop passes, miss tackles, throw the ball to the wrong location, etc.

If Crompton had been playing live football for a few series a game all year... if Ainge isn't hurt... if... if... if.

That game had more to do with injuries catching up than coaching prep.

BTW, Meachem still has no good reason to stay. One game won't change his draft status and he's a RS JR. All he does by staying is shorten his NFL career by a year.

I'd love to see him back. It could mean the difference in championships... but realistically he shouldn't even consider it.

Look at the last 2 players that have returned for their SR season instead of leaving for the NFL: Jason Allen and Justin Harrell. They were both the victims of season ending injuries. If I were Meachem I would take the money and run, if he projects to be at least a 2nd round pick. If not, return to UT, get another year better with Trooper, and maybe play himself into a 1st round slot. The biggest problem there would be we also lose Swain and Smith, so there is no proven WR out there with Meachem to take any pressure off of him. He will see A LOT of double coverages if he returns.

If he is not projected in the Top half of the 1st Round then he has to return because the difference in money is huge. But, if he projects in the top half of the 1st round then money would not be a legitimate reason to come back.

I agree and I would be very surprised if he is projected to be in the top half of the first round. I really really hope he is back in orange next year.

This is the problem for Meachem: Calvin Johnson, Ted Ginn, Dwayne Jarrett, Jeff Samardjiza, etc. This is a top heavy year for WRs and Meachem may even fall out of the first round.

I cant see that happening, but it really comes down to the combine numbers

Chad Jackson was the 2nd WR taken in the draft last year and he didn't go until the second round. He had a solid season and ran a 4.3something. Maybe, the NFL isn't valuing WRs too highly right now. Why would you when you can get guys like Colston in the 7th round?

And you forget Meach's relationship with Trooper. They are like father and son. That will play a big role in his decision. If Cut leaves, Meach will be gone for sure. If he stays(doubt that he won't), Meach may very well stay.

Everything I have heard leads me to believe Cut will be back.
