WR portal stuff

Does he?? His unit regressed/ there’s a bunch of smoke that his players hate him and I don’t think he’s under contract. For God sakes maybe one time Heupel could be pro active and hire a legitimate candidate that wasn’t in his wedding. If Pope / Martinez and Ellerbee come back then we aren’t serious.
Pope is a proven recruiter as is Martinez and Ellerbee. As far as position coaches remind yourself we won 10 games.

JM reminds me of JM if you get what I’m saying. Both extremely talented but can’t seem to put it all together consistently. One has a cannon of an arm while the other has a good arm but the good arm guy is a better runner. Being a better runner than thrower in the NFL is a recipe for disaster. Neither can read defenses or find receivers consistently. The cannon of an arm has more NFL upside than the runner.
He does have that Guarantano Effect. Can play at times like Brady should blush at. Then the inexplicable follows.

Hooker is notoriously FOS.He put it out there before this season started that their was something going on with J.Pearce and he highly doubted he’d play another down at Tennessee.
I have listened to a lot of his podcasts including when he was talking about this. He mentioned he had gone through a lot and needed to be cut slack. Never once did I hear he doubted he would play another down. I'd need to see an article or which episode he spoke on this.

The portal is full of WRs so it’s not just Tennessee…but if you look at our offense this year we led the league in rushing so the WRs didn't get as many targets as they would have liked…plus we are pretty deep so the younger guys didn’t get as many snaps as they would have liked…but it does seem to be pretty common for WRs everywhere to always want to move to get more playing time.

Elarbee’s recruits can’t see the field. Is that on his recruiting or his development?
I'm not sure why, has no recruit seen playing time? Or just not starting. Ellerbee was crucial in getting heard out of the portal as well as getting a commit from the incoming 5*OT. That's got to count for something.

Basilio saying his sources indicate no changes in offensive coaches.

I'm a little disappointed but can live with it. Means wr problems, ol development,
play selection will continue to be discussed next season.

Based upon the article someone posted here comparing departures and adds, I would guess the transfers were asked to go. Reporting says Mike Matthews is in negotiations for a new deal ala Boo Carter.

Awesome, he didn’t see the field once as a member of the worst Bama team in close to 2 decades.
Neither did our 5* Matthews in any important way, but we sure as heck wanted to keep him.

Think Vols and Bama, are in a uniquely challenging situation, more so Bama. JH has a balanced attack..."run first" but needs top level WR to take the top off and keep teams honest, but this year as "exhibit 1", we didn't put alot on film to attract top level WRs as an offense priority, and needs to lean on Hooker years to show his aspirational offense. Debore apparently seems like he leans more on pass game, but needs top level QB to attract top level WRs, and now that Milroe gone (good for Bama), there's a big question on Bama QB, who's going to run the show, and what a Debore offense is supposed to look like.
