WR U is back?

yes true however a team full of 4 and 5 stars attitudes means trouble. There are alot of 4 stars out there. Rogers and Ambles seems to be prima donna already and could stink up a damn good team. If Dooley gets one or both and can drop the attitude quickly then should be ok. If not total disaster. I think next year will be one test after the other.

I just guess I always assume the best in people until they prove me otherwise..I believe that if we signed Rogers and Ambles that we would be fine..To me Dooley comes across as someone who won't take crap from any players..even 5 Stars..I would bet that if they sign that LOI that Dooley would already made them well aware of what he expects out of his players and what is and isn't tolerated..I for one believe that taking two 5 Star playmakers is well worth the minimal risk of them becoming a problem.

Should Dooley be able to land Ambles and Rogers, in addition to the receivers already committed, it will be interesting to see how he retools his fundamentally Sabanesque, power running game first, coaching philosophy to take fullest advantage of this wealth of riches.

Funny thing is...we have just as much of an embarrassment of riches at the RB position...we just need the Horses upfront to block for Bray and the RB's.

Heard that Nance is headed up to Knoxville this weekend for the BB game, and that Rogers is expected to come along..also better news on Ambles..apparently he had to go back to Atlanta because of the weather not allowing him to get to Knoxville. News now is that UT is picking him up from Atlanta and taking him to Knoxville. Rogers and Ambles visiting together the weekend before NSD...I'm really starting to like the chances of this..

just the thought of both get me all worked up, but even one of Rogers/Ambles would freak me out. imagine how Bray must feel? but ya'll are right, the OL will be the difference. that and LB i think, we've got some good DL for the future

I'm very excited of our potential WR core, as I am of our RB's from last year. Sure it would be great if double D could land us 4*/5* O-Linemen, but it may not happen this year. What can he do about it, will we be happy if all he signs is 2*/3* OL? That may be all UT has left on our board, with the exception of Stone. Will DD turn down Ambles and Rogers just to get two 3* OL, Lord I hope not. Chaney may be able to install more of the Purdue offense, and spread the field more.

Personally, I think Chaney has to be licking his chops right now. He NEVER had this much talent around Drew Brees or Orton. And I'm sure he is tickled silly to be out from under the Psuedo Coordinator position he had with Kiffin.

We wont get both of them IMO I think we have a better shot at Rogers and I think it would be better to get Rogers too

As I think about Bray standing tall enough to see over the line and I think about the potential guys he has to throw to in one class...

Da'Rick Rogers Ht:6'3"; Wt:206 lbs; 40:4.4 secs; Vertical:41 inches
Markeith Ambles 6-2. Weight: 182. 40-Yard Dash: 4.58
Justin Hunter 6-feet-4, 175 pounds, with 4.4 speed in the 40 plus a 40-inch vertical
Matt Milton Ht:6'6"; Wt:192 lbs; 40:4.57 secs

Can anyone link to the size of the CBs in our league? 6 feet and shorter lots of them right?

I cannot wait for Cody Riggs or Nickell Robey to try to stop a ball thrown high in the end zone without pass interference.

We have a slew of guys who are physically very much like if even a bit taller than Carl Pickens Height: 6-2 Weight: 206 Kelley Washington Height: 6 ft 3 in, Weight: 218 lb and Robert Meachem Height: 6-2 Weight: 214 lbs.

If all 3 guys decide to commit to the same class, Dooley will have better weapons at WR than any team we play for at least 2-3 years. It is like if Marlon Brown, Patrick Turner and Julio Jones all decided to play together.

When Buffallo had Peerlesss Price and Eric Moulds, they could not be stopped. Lets make that duo a trio...

i talked to matt milton. he said he is closer to 6'5. 6'4 and 7/8 is what he said i believe. he also said his forty is at 4.4, but with the way the stregth and conditioning is going, they hope to have him down to 4.3 by the time the season starts. TIFWIW, but i think milton is going to suprise a LOT of people.

Just wondering why you think Milton will be such a surprise..I think he will be great here, but if I remember correctly didn't he play RB this year? And I remember hearing a bunch of people question the quality of the competition he was playing..With that being said I also believe he will do great at UT, I was just wondering what made you so confident in him being a surprise?

he played what his HS team needed him to play. lots of players do that. if what he told me is correct, and he is 6'5 and will be running a 4.3, who is going to stop him? plus i heard he performed extremely well in bowl game practices.

Before we are declared wide rec u again, maybe we ought to see who we actually sign? And then maybe wait until at least spring prac to see what they are like. And then maybe see them play in acouple games? Or see if they have at least one good season? We have very few wideouts on the roster and haven't even signed these guys yet. I would love to see the list of four star receivers that have come to ut over the years who were over 6 ft and ran sub 4.5s and you never saw any production from them. Anybody remember Chris hannon? Or how bout the fact that while Donte stallworth was here, his production was just not very impressive. I agree it is great to get talented guys. We have to get guys like these to compete. But they then have to produce. When we were wide rec u we got recruits.... And they then performed at very high levels. Stars and yards....

All are valid points. When we were Wide Receiver U, Kippy Brown was the position coach. We now have Charlie Baggett, whose track record in developing wide receivers is every bit as impressive as Kippy's.

I agree with you that they do have to get on the team before calling it WR U again. I also agree that they have to produce..but Chris Hannon? He was rated the 19th best WR and wasn't even in the top 100 players overall..we are talking about two 5 Star WR's who are ranked the #2 and #3 recievers in the country and both are in the Top 25 players in the country overall...little bit of a difference.

We're all wrapped up in all this recruiting and freshman WR stuff to realize that we already have Stocker at TE, Moore, who before that dropped pass in the Chik-Fil-A game was making outstanding catches all season, and, if healthy, a very talnted Gerald Jones to go with these guys. Not to mention Teague. That's WR U for you

No, that's the 3rd best WR unit in the SEC...not quite WR U.

I wouldn't say WR U just yet. Still have to get their LOI's and then see how productive this class is gonna be.

The deal is, many of us are crazy enough that we watched these guys in practices against the best defensive recruits in the country.

Could Hunter be not as great as his stats suggest he could be? Sure...
Could Milton struggle to use his god given size once he is playing against tough competition? Yes.

Ambles? If he stays out of trouble he will make a difference from day 1. The only WR I have watched who is more ready to contribute immediately is Thompkins, and he is not a 4 year player. Ambles runs perfect routes, he comes out of his breaks incredibly well and he can get serious PT as a freshman.

Da'Rick Rogers? He looks awesome as well against good competition in all star practices.

There is zero chance if we get Rogers and Ambles that neither pan out to help UT in a major way as freshmen unless they decide to rob someone and get kicked off the team.

Completely agree MHF. There is a chance it could take Hunter and Milton time to get used to SEC competition and spend some serious time in the weight room..but that is also doubtful especially for Milton I think since he is an EE and participated in Bowl Practices. He should be ready next year..

But there is NO way if we get both Rogers and Ambles that they both don't pan out. They are too talented and ready to play..
