Generalize much? It’s not just immigrants that cause NY and Cali to have the biggest gap in wealth between classes in the country
LOL! In 5 sentence posts? Yes. They won't involve many specifics or detailed analysis. This is a message board.

No, it's not... but I can definitely post links to other sources that say the same damn thing!
It is a joke. And of course you can find something from some other garbage outlet like that written by someone who has most likely never visited the state.

You know what else is a joke. The democrat party and their leader Jim Crow Joe.

That is pretty shaky reasoning. I highly doubt the majority of conservative posters who bash San Francisco on here have ever been there.

And I’m sure the liberal San Francisco vegan mafia has never seen the inside of a Dollar General in Eastern Kentucky, but they’re pretty comfortable judging it’s customer base.

I've been there a few times, did the tourist crap driving the curvy road, ate dinner at fisherman's wharf, saw the only fire hydrant that worked after the 1906 earthquake and on and on. I know one thing, I'll never go back as I'm sure many many other people won't either.

Just because other states have higher median household income that doesn't mean that WV is POOR, just because other states have higher achieved education doesn't mean WV is ILLITERATE, same for drug use.

Likewise the metrics you mentioned does not make a state a $hithole

I'd imagine the vast majority of WV residents love it; same as any other state.

Late 80s I dated a girl from Bluefield, WV. After a few dates she had me wore out and when I said we can do something else besides drink and screw she said “why”.

Did you rope her in by shaking a bottle of pills? I hear thats the WV mating call.

I can't name anything she is in after Ruthless People.
Ruthless People was a great movie. I had to go back and look at her filmography. The only other movies of hers I remember seeing were Hocus Pocus and The Stepford Wives. Down and Out in Beverly Hills looks like it might be a pretty good movie but I've never seen it.

West Virginia is at or near the bottom of ANY quality of life metric.

This Is the Most Miserable State in the U.S. — Best Life

^^^^ Guess Who It Is ? ^^^^

WEST VIRGINIA.

In these types of rankings, the worst places to live are always either Mississippi or West Virginia.

Unemployment Rate : 8.9%
Poverty Rate : 15.6%
Misery Index : 74.06 (the link explains how the Misery Index is calculated)

Now, on to more literacy-specific data (it seems that is what you want).

Literacy Statistics

U.S. Literacy Rates by State

Your comment about their opioid crisis doesn't make any sense. It's a very serious and very real problem for them. The quality of life in West Virginia is awful. Due to a lack of education and training, the people who live there, would have to live in squalor wherever they were. They choose to do it, close to where they were born.
Generalize much? The quality of life for most in WVA is not awful. If you take care of yourself and have reasonable income it can be a rewarding place to live, like most places. Housing is cheap, outdoor activities are in easy reach, and the people are generally neighborly. Many prefer such a lifestyle to living in a large city or suburban hellscape with better metrics. The same goes for other places with lower rankings, like Tennessee.

The sentence which I placed in bold is the expression of reasonable logic.

However, do you have any idea how many posts that I have seen on the politics forum of VolNation which describe the living conditions in the state of California as being similar to that of a 3rd world nation? Without question, the same thing can be said for the people who have the financial resources necessary to live in Malibu and Laguna Beach in southern California. The conservatives who post to this forum, never apply this same reasonable logic, to states they regard as being "under control of the democrats," such as the state of California.

West Virginia governor's dog, Babydog, makes appearance at State of the State address

Republican West Virginia Governor Jim Justice told actress Bette Midler to "kiss" his dog, Babydog’s "hiney."

Justice’s jab at Midler came at the end of his State of the State address, where he touted West Virginia’s wins and recently announced economic developments.

"Absolutely too many people doubted us. They never believed in West Virginia," Justice said in his remarks. "They never believed in West Virginia — that we could do it."

"They told every bad joke in the world about us," Justice continued. "And so from that standpoint, Babydog tells Bette Midler and all those out there: kiss her hiney!"

Applause and laughter erupted after Justice’s roast of Midler, who kicked the Mountain State’s online hornet’s nest in December of last year.

Midler had called West Virginia "poor, illiterate and strung out" in a tweet targeting Democrat Senator Joe Manchin over not supporting President Biden’s Build Back Better bill.

There’s no telling what kind of diseases Babydog could catch. That’s hardly a way to treat man’s best friend.

Nothing says separation of wealth class like ticket pricing for "Hello, Dolly!" Starring Bette Midler
Regular Dolly ticket prices range $79 (balcony) to $189 (orchestra) seats, according to telecharge.com

$110 offers better seats without having to be seated next to poor people in the balcony.

I think I see what you mean. It's possible to have a good quality of life in California. Most Californians do. But it is expensive. Malibu and Laguna Beach are far out of reach of the average person. In WVA on the other hand, people can live well on far less.

WV is another state that is suffering because we sent the steel industry to China. We used to vacation at Summersville lake when I was little. It's a Beautiful state, but it is getting poorer by the day.
