Damn, man...

Wrestlers are living proof of why you shouldn't take steroids. So many have been taken down by heart attacks and most likely all were linked to roid use. Scary. Sad.

RIP Rowdy :(

I would think punishment to his body hurt him more than any substance did. He went through the equivalent of 5 zillion small car crashes.

The only heel that ever won in little six year old's volfanbill's WWF ring. Loved Piper. You know what you're getting when just about every big time wrestler's music hits. That wasn't the case with Piper. He brought something new regularly.

Supposedly, the reason Piper never held the title is that nobody ever would quite trust what he'd do once he got the belt.

I'm not sure you can say that 100%. I don't know that they've for sure linked steroids with heart disease. I would say it's one factor to go along with the complete pounding they put their bodies through, combined with the fact they do it for about 300 days a year.

Most wrestlers over 50 that were in the business most of their adult lives are lucky if they can walk without a limp or pain, and the stories are more than you can count about how wrestlers are addicted to pain kilers and other drugs just to get through matches.

If it were that clear cut about steroids, Hogan should have been dead at least 10 years ago. That guy took them like it was the air he breathed.

Plus Piper was 61. While that's still relatively young, it's also not exactly unheard of for a guy in his 60s to die of a heart attack. Family history, diet, etc. would have to be factored in as well.

I'd be shocked if almost every death didn't have it's root in a combination of steroids and CTE. My guess, with the heart attacks, is that the steroids made them predisposed to heart issues. Then with the CTE problems, they begin medicating or self-medicating and that puts them at an incredibly high risk. Basically if they don't kill themselves from the CTE, their heart is gonna kill them shortly after.

After watching Halloween Havoc 96 and 97, they are better than your average Halloween Havoc fare. Coincidentally, Roddy Piper factored heavily into both shows. As WCW went downhill after 97, I imagine they get worse from here.

Couple of things I noticed:

-For some very odd reason, WWE dubs in Jericho's WWE theme as his entrance music. I think they do this on all the WCW archives. I don't understand why, when other wrestler themes are intact. If I remember, Jericho's WCW them was your typical generic WCW rock theme, so I don't think its a copyright issue. Maybe I'm imagining things, but the NWO theme also seems to be tinkered with. Or maybe I'm just not remembering the NWO theme as it was at that time. Either way, its pretty terrible. Sounds like the late great Dusty Rhodes is randomly throwing in "4 life" over commentary. Edit: Ok, DDP's theme is wrecked too. WTF.

-Apparently, face or heel, WCW fans don't like Randy Savage. For the 2nd time in 3 years, a fan runs in when Savage is out there, this time quickly climbing the cage to attack him as he's beating up on Piper. This time, both Hogan and Savage attack the fan, which is always fun to watch. And, no, the fan wasn't black.

There goes any Wyatt or Leon Kruger hopes for the moment. Not sure about the sound of that. Sounds throwaway.

"I hope there's bubblegum in Heaven"

Great sign, so glad RAW put that clip in Piper's memorial

Yeah, there's nothing worse than being in a huge storyline with Kevin Owens.

That wasn't a shot at WWE for what they are doing. I'm loving this feud. Just a general statement showing my appreciation for him.

I really wish it was him and Rollins for the title though.

of course it's not. It just gets a huge pop, a large chunk of airtime and great matches. yeah, it sucks. #freecesaro #freeowens #80manfreeforallforthebelt #thatsallthatmatters #neverhappy

Sheamus joining the Wyatt family for a backstage vignette needs to never happen again

2 men are hardly 80 men. And hey it will be a great match. But sometimes great matches need meanings. Hopefully they tear the house down and it elevates both of them to the main event, where they belong. And no, why would I be happy with ****ty booking? I'm a fan. I complement what I think is good, I bash what I think is garbage. It's called an opinion. :eek:k:
