Yeah, Bruce is just leveraging us for a better job....

Wait. I thought that it was settled here that it is inappropriate and gay for a coach to show such emotion after a tough loss.

If CBP had the same "relationship" that CUM had with Tebow, then that may be a valid point.

I am not comparing the two. I defended Meyer when he got emotional after tough losses, and I would defend Pearl for doing the same thing.

But, it appears that some on here see no inconsistency in beaming with pride at Pearl for doing it whilst simultaneously mocking the same intensity in Meyer.
Being emotional after being very narrowly eliminated in the Elite Eight isn't quite as gay as sobbing after LSU beats you in a 3 loss regular season.

Let's love both. Why not?

When was the last time UT was great in football and basketball? Or ever?
Oh , I agree. I don't want to take sides, but our football program goes through some tough times and people are ready to become Kentucky or Duke. No thanks.

Nah Meyer just looks like a pompis ass when he does it.

No, Iowa just stooped down to a Mike Hamilton level hire.

That Mike Hamilton, he sure missed it when he hired a coach from Wisconsin Milwaukee...

Oh wait...are you bashing him for hiring a coach who has not yet coached a single game in football? No way you are making a comment that absurd?!

You mean the Ernie Grunfeld hire?

If it was up to Mikey, Tennessee would still be in the gutter.

Hiring a perennial WAC bottom feeder isn't going to solve anything. Doofus just delayed UT's chance of success for many years to come.

Dooley is 17-20 as a HC.

Dooley is 17-20 as a HC.

Mack Brown was 11/23 at Tulane and then 2-20 his first two years at North Carolina. Frank Beamer was something like 23 games under .500 a few years into his Va Tech tenure. But don't let that stop you from making up your mind before the guy has failed. I swear people just can't wait to act superior with things they don't know anything about. Give the guy a chance.

I still think I'll wait until football season to fire the coach...what the heck...I'll even give him three years since everyone was saying 7-5 would have been great this coming season even if CLK had stayed around.

Way to go Coach Pearl and the Vol Basketball team!

GBO! (no matter who the coaches are)

Bruce loves UT! HE will never leave!
Right now he's BIG ORANGE through and through.:dance2::eek:k::clapping:I hope that the AD will relook aat Bruce's contract and up his salary and add two more year to that contract. How long has he signed for now? This coach has done a fantastic job on recruiting and can do even better since the Vols have done well over the past 3-4 years. He needs to get some really top recruits to believe that UT can play for National Championships in basketball.:clapping::good!:GO VOLS!!!

Myer is psychiatric, Pearl isn't. Maybe you will win all your games with Myer but I'm glad you have him.

I root for both football and basketball just as hard as the other. I've been going to watch both sports for 25 years! GO VOLS and you made us proud!

Guys, if you want to talk football go to the correct forum for goodness sake. Plenty of Dooley threads over there.

I was driving back from the game and missed the post game show. thanks for sharing the links.

I knew today could end with teary eyes, win or lose. Coach wasn't the only one showing emotion after the game. So many fans gathered over the entrance giving the team an ovation as they walked off the floor and not many dry eyes. The team and coaching staff made us proud. And they will be hungry next year to go one step more.

One other interesting comment after the game - a MSU fan who had every right to be happy after their win looked around and said he was having a hard time celebrating as he watched the UT fans. I think we earned a lot of respect. MSU fans seemed to be a classy bunch overall and best of luck to them.

I would strongly suggest that it is preferable to have a coach with great talent, coveted by others, with the potential to move along to higher aspirations, than to have one who engages no jealousy in our rivals for his attention.

Do you desire to lay with the prom queen...or not?
