Yeah, Bruce is just leveraging us for a better job....

Or even remotely accurate. Meyer has had the most talent on the field in every game he played, save the AL game he just lost. Pressure is being asked to win when you have nothing.

Not to mention the fact that there is a certain basketball program whose head coach is under IMMENSE pressure on a yearly basis. The last 5 years in which LG referred to, having been the most tumultuous since the Eddie Sutton fiasco.

True,Coaches like Bruce are rare,Knight,Wooden,Jackson,Riley and Rupp.UT is truly blessed.I THINK A STATUE IS IN HIS FUTURE.Making it to a regional championship game is something only 7 other coaches did this year!!!

Seriously? Your seriously going to make that comparison?

Also, by this logic, the George Mason coach from a few years back when they made their Final 4 run should be in the coaching Hall of Fame

The takeover was complete when Dooley was announced as the new football coach.

You mean the Ernie Grunfeld hire?

If it was up to Mikey, Tennessee would still be in the gutter.

Hiring a perennial WAC bottom feeder isn't going to solve anything. Doofus just delayed UT's chance of success for many years to come.

A little premature in your assessments aren't we boys ? and the whole Doofus thing shows a real level of immaturity.

There is certainly a chance that Dooley will fall flat on his face and fail here but there is also a chance he will succeed, if it's the latter of the two, I hope you will admit to the wrongfulness of your assessments with the same conviction with which you gave them.

Bruce might not be leveraging for another job, but he's going to try to get another raise. I guess he finally earns his $2.1 mil and now wants more

wesrucker
He'll try. He always does. Too soon to know if it'll work. RT @dbcotton: @wesrucker Any buzz yet on BP and his assistants getting a raise?

Your conclusion is the exact opposite of what it should be. Meyer has had the best talent, but that doesn't mean the pressure on him is less. Its actually more, because of the higher expectations.

I mean, that seems pretty obvious to me.

There are a few basketball programs where the pressure is very high. But you cannot seriously compare a college basketball season to the intensity of the light on you for a 12 game season where you can barely stand to lose one game, if you are lucky, an SEC c-ship game that means a birth in a BCS game for bazillions of dollars, and vieing for the national championship on a basis where it is expected of you.

This isn't what you said. You specifically referenced the pressure of being the head coach at two different programs.

And let's face it, the pressure cooker of being the head football coach at UF the last five years has been a heckuva lot more intense than being head basketball coach anywhere.

The "pressure" of being the basketball coach at UK is just as high as being the Florida Football coach. Anything less than final fours and national championships are considered failures, by both fans and school officials. People get fired for such reasons as not being able to communicate with the media effectively.

Thats what you said, and thats what I disputed. Don't try and change the argument by talking about the differences of the job and the difference of the type of "seasons".

At this point I'd say it's higher at UK. Meyer has championships in the bank, and even if it was a new coach the fanbase at UF doesn't feel as entitled as UK's, and they have had championships recently. At UK if they don't win a title in the next three years the entire state might spontaneously combust.

Kiffin probably would have left for USC under any conditions, but I don't think it made him sad to get out of the fishbowl that is UT football. We haven't won an SEC title in what we consider to be too damn long, and we miss that feeling we had in 98. Well Kentucky fans are ten times worse. Kentucky basketball is all that state has.
