Yes, I am still looking forward to Oregon.

Good post. It's going to be extremely tough to win in Eugene, but certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

If the D is anywhere near as conditioned as CBJ says they will be, this should be a good game. The key to Oregon (duh) is keeping their D on the field. They score a lot but give up a lot. Turn the tables on that no huddle O and they can be had.

not holding back, ha, we ain't got much to throw at the ducks, maybe 15 to 20 plays total. i still hope we win the game though.

Yeah and the Ducks don't run but about 5 plays out of 10 formations, but they are the same 5 plays. I think we have a chance to stay close, slow them down, and maybe even win this thing. You know they are playing the game thinking we absolutely suck already.

Yeah, you guys are still drinking the dool aid. No way we win. Its not happening, not possible. Im the biggest ut fan you will meet but I am also a realist. Oregon avg 40 plus points last year, i think. Our defense is terrible with the addition of losing our 4 best offensive players, this gonna be a long year.

We might as well forfeit

This is some good stuff right here. Remember the days when we could proudly claim dominant sec defense... And you always had to explain to foreigners of the conference " except ole miss, vandy and Kentucky" . Well guys now everyone says that about us. We just don't have an sec caliber defense anymore.

They have better hot tubs and female locker room attendants but we have treadmills under water with footcams, so we'll see.

I am looking forward to this game. Absolutely nobody will be expecting us to win. I really hope CBJ coaches these guys up and brings the best out of them. Go Vols!

I think CBJ will run a power game spread against Oregon, you see the strength we have is our O-line, by no means should Oregon beat us up front with their D-Line. Does not mean they will not beat us badly, I do not think it will be as bad as some think...however better focus on that second game against Petrino and Western Kentucky.

I really hate it when people say "he lost to dooley." Tennessee had far more talent than them...we were expected to win.

That's true. But it's somewhat ironic that the only current SEC coach with a regulation loss to Derek Dooley on his record is employed by UT.

UT has the talent to hang with them and keep it close. Coaching is what will make the difference in this game. Butch's positive outlook will certainly help.

Not the only James Franklin lost to Dooley too.

Why only point to a regulation loss? Franklin is the only current SEC coach that was an SEC coach when he lost to Dooley.

This game will be my son's first big orange game. I wish it was in Neyland but I know it will be special for he and I. I hope it is a day that he never forgets, like the 98 Florida game for my dad and I. Go Vols!

If you were Oregon how would you gameplan against us? I think our biggest vulnerability outside of our porous secondary would be to matchup one of their kenjon barner type players against aj in coverage.

Black mamba will run free like a gazelle on our D.

With good coaching we can easily have a top 25 defense this year. We have the talent for it. Our players looked slow last year because they were out of position and had no idea what the heck was going on due to poor coaching. I'm excited to see how the team will respond this year.

Because of what I saw in our defense last year, their speed is what scares me.

Im praying to god that our D improves miraculously.

A 3-4 is actually a 5-2 defense.

So the new scheme alone may bring more speed onto the field.

Plus the return of Randolph, and another year older for McNeil and Bonner.
