With that small, reptilian brain, you should let others do the thinking. :birgits_giggle:

Nice response. He truly can't help it though. Condescension flows downhill from the Mount Olympus upon which only members of the Reptilian Horde are allowed to reside.

You do realize that he ran the ball at Cincy more than he threw it right?

2012: 346 pass vs. 464 run
2011: 392 pass vs. 500 run

Didnt UC's RB Pead go to the NFL in the 2nd round? I don't know of many passing teams putting RB's that high in the draft.

i think butch will win games, but he won't win championships

That's pretty much where I am on this. I can see him adding a level of competitiveness and fire to this team that maybe gets us to the 8-4 or 9-3 level over time.

Folks around here don't actually research before they open their mouths. They hear a magic word and assume it means one thing. The same guy that thinks you need a running QB to run the spread will say they don't run enough. They toss around words they don't understand.

The spread takes on many many forms it can be pass happy, run heavy or balanced. The spread is just an offense where you SPREAD the field creating open spaces for explosive athletes to make plays. Basically our offense this year was a spread run with a proform mindset. Florida in the Tebow years was a spread that was basically wildcat every snap. Spread offenses mostly use shotgun, pistol and some single back formations. Most NFL offenses are forms of the spread. A good number of the top SEC offenses spend a lot of time in spread formations/concepts. Heck outside of the Schools in Alabama and Mississippi almost all SEC offenses spend as much time in spread as much as I form.

The fullback is dead.

From everything I've heard and read, Butch Jones is very good. If he brings in his whole staff, they'll be able to hit the ground running in recruiting, etc. Gruden and Gundy weren't gonna happen. At least Jones ain't askeered of the challenge and thinks he has what it takes to bring the program back to where it should be. Hope this hire works out well for y'all.

Butch jones is nothing but a truthful guy. He's gonna be something special here and here's why:
-He brings a whole new concept of offense to the SEC, it's a spread that will work.

-He's got a good attitude that fires the players up unlike Dooley who just sat there with his arms crossed.

-Any man that goes into a presser and compares his future to Saban and Miles has confidence and knows he will be successful.

It's a breath of fresh air, the fan base is split though. This was a great hire, some people are still called for Gruden and Gundy, freaking give me a break!!!! They turned the offers down, so to hell with them. They are nothing but coaches without guts that didnt wanna clean this mess up. CBJ has a pair and to glory Tennessee will be led. If you don't like the hire, turn in your merch and root for someone else. GO BIG ORANGE, WE ARE BACK!!!!

1st he isn't even close to truthful. A hour before he met with Hart he told the players He wasn't going anywhere and also assured the Cincy AD the same thing.

2nd A spread that works isn't new to the SEC.

3rd A good attitude doesn't equal wins

4th I could compare myself to Saban and Miles but it don't mean squat

Last this isn't fresh air, it's just Doofey 2.0

I was surprised at how well they did in the draft. They had four players selected overall:

Derek Wolfe, DT (Denver Broncos) 36th overall pick
Isaiah Pead, RB (St. Louis Rams) 50th overall pick
John Hughes DT (Cleveland Brown) 87th overall pick
Adrien Robinson TE (New York Giants) 127th overall pick (2012 NFL Draft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

I don't dislike the guy but I am not jumping on board as of yet.

This. I've been a Vol fan all my life, but I'm slap out of "all in". I couldn't care less whether he won the presser and I don't care what he says. I care what he does. Keep Jay Graham, recruit SEC-level talent, put together a staff that can coach in-game better than my average seat mate in QQ and win. Just win. Til he does that, he's just another guy with an orange tie.

We need to run the ball to win. PERIOD. Butch isn't committed to the run.

im sure when CBJ finally sits down to do his homework he will notice fast that the D and the RUN game is what makes the SEC so dominate

I agree with you but the title of the thread ... well ... not cool

I'm on board the Butch train. I'll admit it has taken a few hours to grow on me, but I think he'll do a good job here. (Of course, I said that about the last 2 hires, so excuse me if I'm a little apprehensive)

I think that's about where I am at. This morning I was miserable with the hire, but after hearing his press conference and learning a bit more about Coach Jones he may work out just fine.

I'm actually looking forward to next season. Go Vols!

Why would you tell those who disagree with you to "shove it"? I mean the folks just blatantly hating on him are out of line, but there are definitely some causes for concern with this hire. This is a "C" hire at best, will west and the guest he had on today said more like C- to D. We're all just gonna take it one step at a time. Let's see him recruit, let's see his team in the spring, and then let's see some wins next year. Way to early to say ANYTHING definitive about this hire.
