You guys realize that recruits read these threads too

If you were choosing between Tennessee and any other SEC school, would Tennessee still be on yiur list after coming here this morning?

No Jones is not the hire I expected either. But to compare him to Dooley at this point? This guy is a proven winner and was willing to take a chance on UT when many others would not. All I'm concerned about is what defense we run. We need to run a 4-3. If he does that then he's won the first battle for me.

Obviously, most people were set on Gruden or Stoops, or someone like that. I am actually quite surprised that the furor has died down this quickly.

I also think Jones has done a lot to silence the critics to some extent. In 48 hours, he has won the press conference, and it looks like he almost has his coaching staff set. After a quick organizational meeting or two, they should be ready to hit the ground running in recruiting.

Although some will say that his promise to have the best staff in the country is bogus, it was probably necessary to bring a good contingent of his staff from Cincy, in order to have a smooth transition. Apparently, his other four hires were made with an eye on recruiting. I think getting Tee will go a long way to getting everyone focused on the next task at hand, rather than worrying so much over what could have been.

I, for one, will be quite content if the recruiting gets into full swing, with a few four star recruits, and maybe a 5 star or two. Here's to hoping!

The furor has died done because of misinformation distributed by none other than the AD and the Booger Eater. These to men looked buffoon's in the so-called coaching search.

Recruits want to play at winning programs. Tennessee is far from that!!! And that has nothing to do with fans.

How do you know what recruits do or dont do?

I love it when people who don't know jack about recruiting comment about recruits not wanting to play here. It really separates the posters who know their football from the complete mouth-breathers.

I have come to the conclusion that recruits and their mamas read the internet boards. I also think that most of them realize that there are trolls who establish themselves on the boards and try to shoot down schools and coaches. While I would rather those negative posters re-frame from their activities from which they get their jollies, the athletics and their parents are smart enough to realize that those posters have a mental problem and are able to ignore their lies and false statements. MsTerry is a fine example of a parent who gets it.

You are correct. So we should stop posting negativity. The mods should ban ALL NEGATIVE POSTS, IMMEDIATELY.

So quiet your negative tone. Recruits read this. We need to appear happy and content that our AD and Chancellor hired another cheap coach. ooops!!!

Recruits know that they are posters like you on any board. They get a real laugh out of it.

What makes you think that those writing this negative junk really care?

They care about venting. They care about not getting what they "expected" and "deserve".

They're selfish and will NEVER see themselves as part of the problem.

BTW, there's a difference between being objectively critical and being maliciously/malignantly negative.

I don't think anyone can deny that CBJ was not the coach most UT fans expected. A few liked him early on but most were caught up in the idea of Gruden or a "fall back" of Fisher.

You cannot deny that this is a big step up in competition for him. You cannot deny that he has not recruited at the SEC level at any point in his career. That is mitigated by the fact that he also has not had as much to sell as UT gives him.

BUT... you also cannot deny that the guy has won... ALOT. You cannot deny that he's done more with less. You cannot deny that he's beaten teams with more talent. He's won championships in 4 of his 6 seasons as a HC. He expects to win.

It is unrealistic to only see the positive. But it is just as unrealistic to be fatalistically negative and to interpret everything through that lens.

You are delusional if you do not think that fan support and loyalty have nothing to do with recruiting and ESPECIALLY when you have to convince recruits to move 100's of miles from home.

If you care ANYTHING about UT... you will just shut up until you actually have something real to complain about. Recruits visit this site. HS coaches do. Family members of recruits do. Players do. The media does.

We all hope that they will ignore the posts of negative idiots and not draw their impression of the program from people like you... but unfortunately there are just way too many of you right now.

So the only thing to do is just shut up and blindly follow who ever they hire?
