You Haters are on the Wrong Side of This Story

And Meyers only won 7 games after he lost a great coordinator. Do you say Meyers is an average coach because of that? That argument is incredibly weak, too. And so Saban is average for beating UT, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss. State, and Missouri. 6 of their 8 conference games were against bad teams.

Meyer won 2 SEC titles and 2 national titles in 6 years. Fulmer won 2 SEC titles and 1 national title in 16 years.

My argument is weak? Nope here it is. Fulmer was successful when he surrounded himself with high quality assistant coaches who could bring in top flight talent. He also benefited from a weaker SEC. When those assistants started to leave, so did the talent. The level of competition in the conference greatly improved and he was exposed as the average coach that he had always been. That's all.

Because Fulmer has always been a head coach & never a position coach or OC. I'm sure Tennessee would have been bad then if he was. Oh wait. Idiots. The man is in the hall of fame with SEC titles & a national championship. Choose to believe what you want.

I don't remember seeing Fulmer's name on Colorado, Purdue, and KY's wish list.

Does Phil even interview with anybody? There's probably been 70-80 openings the last 5 years...is he only holding out for TN/bama/ND/USC?

USF and Kansas too, but he's not having too much luck with that.

Did they win six titles in a row? Have over half the top ten at one time?

Actually, just tell me which group of coaches is better: Dubose, Donnan, DiNardo, Nutt, Widenhofer, Scott vs. Saban, Richt, Miles, Bielema, Franklin, Muschamp (and Sumlin).

It's okay if you need time to think about it. I'll wait.

I post one thing you seem to read something totally different. There is little point in me attempting to defend my position on an issue before that position is comprehended by you. I didn't say the sec was better then than it is now. Please learn to read before you attempt to engage me in dialogue.

There is no way in hell that the sec was down in the 90s.

I've read alot of these posts and No One has given me one reason why this guy was chosen . He has not one win against a ranked team and he has never coached in the SEC . He has two conference titles and he wanted the job . When alabama needed a coach they stepped up and got the biggest name they could sign. Same for UK Basketball , Ohio State Football ( meyer ) and many other top hires at top universities.you get what you pay for ! When a company is in dire straits they hire someone with credentials and experience in the matters at hand.I'm not trying to hate on butch , I hope he can turn it around . Problem is he will have no time to do it, or time to figure it out. Obviously not too many people were interested in the job. By the way I'm glad its not Gruden. Goodluck Butch !

I think it's funny all of the Grudenettes blaming Hart and the boosters for him not being the coach. He didn't want the job. Listened to a telephone interview on the local news last week. He said coaching took up too much time and he wasn't ready to give that much time. Was happy where he was at. But you will never get them to believe that. I'm surprised they haven't blamed Smokey yet.

You are doing it again! I'm NOT going to be cajoled into defending a position that was not mine! There are two schools of thought as to why fulmer was turning in subpar results there is your opinion and then there is the truth. He became complacent and too comfortable. He lost the drive to excel. Your position is that he was never great. You are proof positive that hindsight isn't always 20/20.

Jones hire is getting excellent reviews.

Get over yourselves.

Miles and Saban came to the SEC/LSU w no more certainty of success.

Butch Jones record at Cincinnati:
23 wins in 3 years
4 wins were against FCS teams
10 wins were against FBS teams with a losing record in the regular season
5 wins were against FBS teams that finished 6-6
4 wins against teams that finished with winning seasons

Of those 4 winning teams, 3 were 7-5 in the regular season. Only 2010 Miami (OH) was better at 9-3.

Summary: In 3 years at UC, Butch Jones has won only 1 game against a FBS-level school with fewer than 5 losses in the regular season.
