I think he'd be absolutely retarded to stay silent now.. At the very least come out and say he won't be retained.. There is nothing to gain by keeping silent now..

But why does that matter? Why is it okay for other teams to fire their coaches and announce it loudly, but we always play everything close to the vest? They are going to have millions more in lost revenue for the Kentucky game. Who wants to watch that crap?
The team still has a chance to get to 6 wins and a bowl game. You fire Dooley now and that's gone. If he loses to Vanderbilt, then you fire him.
