So everyone that was "told" gruden was coming by "sources"....ever wonder if you were used to help create this pro-Gruden media frenzy ??? You were given "confidential" information only to rush to immediately throw it out to the public in some form on this forum or others....surely your "source" didnt really expect you to keep a secret...you passed on any and all information just as fast as you could without any regard or proof as to its accuracy.....

If you seriously believe there was nothing to the Gruden stuff well to be honest there is no sense discussing it.

The Gruden rumors brought about the change and they brought about the hiring of CBJ.

Before Gruden there was no method for focusing our frustration, after the Gruden Train got rolling it became a symbol for what TN Football should be and a symbol for our general unrest.

It worked for Notre Dame and it worked for us.

YOU. ARE. WRONG. I remember years ago when all the talk was the need to breakup the "good ole boy" system.

Well it got broke up. Now the people who BLEED orange are powerless. This is what it has gotten us. An Ad and a Chancellor that work in the night with disregard for the Tradition of UT.

When the PHDs in the school realize that the 18 million they gave back to the Athletic Department will NEVER be returned because there will be No profit from football they will be furious.

That money gave Cheek and Hart the ability to flip the Boosters the bird and go behind their back with this hire.

It is astounding that we have given our University away.

It is unfortunate that Coach Jones and his wonderful family are now caught up in this.

Did you even stop to read my post before rambling on a different subject..... its about the hype and the rumors and how everyone had a source that was secret and trusted couldnt wait to stab it in the back and share everything they were blindly fed....

Gruden was never close
(nor were his kids really enrolled at Webb :) )

Hardcore Grudenite posts are the most annoying to me at present. Because they are absolutely convinced Gruden was in play. They gave too much validity to info that supported their claim and too much doubt to any info that didn't.

And now to cover ass, they are calling for Hart's head. As if he botched the Gruden sure thing. I find it all humerous.

I think I might start a poll thread for who was worse AD: Hamilton or Hart.

They were here. The only reason Lamonte made the statement he did was to avoid any chance that his client would look unwanted. Which he was by the Administration at UT. Only because it represented a lessening of power for themselves.

The saddest part of this hire for me is that ARKANSAS has managed to hire considerably bigger names for their last two coaches than UT. Why? Arkansas gets Petrino / Tennessee gets Dooley...Arkansas gets Bielema / Tennessee gets Jones. Either Tennessee, for some reason, is less attractive to potential coaches than Arkansas, who faces LSU and Alabama...OR, the hiring efforts of UT have been deficient. For clarity, I'm not suggesting Bielema is a home run hire, but he is undeniably more highly regarded than Jones. From my perspective, it appears as though Arkansas' AD has simply been more determined. Why?

Why would Peyton Manning try to get Jones to take the Colorado job?

Yeah, you're right, looking back I definitely could have been used by a member of the 1997 Tennessee team, a friend I have know for almost 20 years, to enthusiastically encourage pro Gruden posts on a message board, within a thread of a thread of a thread to create a pro-Gruden media frenzy! You know, I bet, this member of the Tennessee team definitely didn't expect me to keep a secret. Its diabolical.

I dont know about you, but I heard that Gruden paid Jones to hire 3 mid-western children to pose as his children and a wife he met at a laundrymat. Gruden then instructed Jones to take the job, only to retire Feb 1, 2013 as a winner, so that he can take reign and pronounce utter-meltdown on Volnation. Of course, TIFWIW, JMO, JMHO, WTHDIK

Straight up logic. Something a high-school dropout would struggle with. Where there is smoke there is fire. Period.

Have you read the famous quote from Hitler, here it goes, kinda eery how it mimics the things being said in the Gruden thread.

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”

For the slow ones, Jones said himself in his press conference that one week ago Petting Manning tried to get him to take the Colorado job. FACT.

Why would he do this while his University was coachless?

I don't know a Petting Manning, and if you mean PEYTON, then I believe PEYTON likes Butch, knows he is well respected and put in a good word for a friend in Denver. Not that hard to figure that one out.

No Butch said he texted him trying to get him to take the Colorado job.

And you are a pathetic troll using a typo from a cell phone to try to lend yourself credibility.

To those on the other side of this argument... babyavi is about the worst representative you can have.

Bull****. The groodenites are an embarassment to UT. The so called gruden rumors had nothing to do with our new coach. The gruden rumors were started by a bunch of fools and those that carry it are just as foolish. The only reason we have a new coach is because our last coach did not get the wins. That's it. End of story. If any of you grudes would have taken the time to look at how many gruden rumors have been started at how any different schools perhaps you would have realized how foolish these so called insiders with secret e-mails are. Simply put - you grudenites made yourself look insanely foolish.
