I have Warrior and watch it occasionally. I agree, the story and acting are great.

Not sure how big of a window you consider to be "that era" but I feel like there is a pretty good list of films from that mid 60's to mid 70's time frame that hold up extremely well.

Actually leads into my contribution to the thread to go along with plenty that have already been mentioned, one of my all time favorite movies is The Sting.

In my opinion, movies didn't really start holding up until the 70s. Lots of movies from that decade have lost nothing over the years. Movies from the 60s are a different story, with exceptions to the rule. I love the Magnificent 7 but if that production came out today, we'd laugh at it.

Warrior kicks ass. One of the best movies I've ever seen. Tom Hardy was such a monster in the octagon.

It's really a shame that it essentially gets dismissed as an MMA movie. It's a very powerful story with extremely deep-rooted characters.

I really wish it got the recognition it deserved, but unfortunately I think it will always be regarded as "That movie about the MMA fighters"

It has better acting than the majority of films nominated for oscars imo.
