Less talented than UF man to man. Terrible OL making a bad strength against weakness match up for them. At Neyland. They were statistically dominated by a "good" UNC team and a great UGA team.

There are no good reasons the Vols should lose this game.

I'm pretty sure someone started a thread b4 the Florida game titled "There are no good reasons we should lose to Florida"

Was not aware of this…from Beamer interview. If we can’t run we are in trouble. If ratler can’t pass they are in trouble.

On Running Back Room…

“Running backs, they’re deep. They’ve got three running backs that can all go. They’ve all got great vision, speed, burst, quickness. That’ll be a challenge for us without a doubt. They are the leading rushing offense in the SEC. So, last week against Mississippi State, we faced the No. 1 rushing offense in the country. This week we get to do it again. They ran for 303 yards against Texas-San Antonio Saturday and this isn’t like they popped some runs and run their yardage up. They’re handing the ball off 30-plus times a game. So we’ve got a big challenge on our hands to stop the run this week as well.”

  • Note: The Gamecocks held Mississippi State to just 32 yards on 23 total carries in their game on Saturday. The Bulldogs found offense through the air, though, with quarterback Will Rogers going 30-of-48 for 487 passing yards.

My biggest fear is that the team pays the price for all the bad karma due to the quantity of negative unfaithful posts by folks identifying as Vol fans. Hard to overcome being sold out by your own.

I feel really good about a V if our D line can contain and rattle their QB. And that won't be easy.

I am guessing a Carolina win based on Rattler’s confidence against our secondary vs the ineptness of our offensive line.

Well, if we start Sampson and use him a lot, if our O line can pass protect for 4 seconds, throw slants, wheel routes and test them downfield, play press coverage with a lot of blitz packages…we can pull this off. A steady diet of bubble screens, runs up the gut, lots of zone coverage and the obligatory dropped passes…well, that’s another story.

Reasonably confident, although this series has been much closer than any of us want to admit lately.

Honestly, the more we get into this week, the more confident I am feeling. For a few reasons:
1) Night Home game- we will be LOUD after what happened last year, Dark mode uni, sold out crowd liquored up, bye the following week...
2) Our D line vs their Oline (strength vs weakness). I think we get after Rattler pretty good, with 4 and 5 man rushes all night. They dont run the ball very well, so many opportunities to pin the ears back
3) Juice wells is doubtful. If he doesnt play, double Legette passing downs...If he does, I will be considerably more worried.
4) Got to think the players will have a Revenge factor mindset, and .....#5
5) I think we still have been pretty vanilla on offense. Yes, I know we played UF and should have opened the playbook, but it just never felt like we did in that game....I think this week we see some new stuff, trick plays, fake punts, etc....FULL petal to the floor board.

And also because I will be in Denver on vacation at a watch party/UT Vol bar, so the boys better not spoil my vacation....

Vols by 17pts.

I’m at 60. It’s hard for me to be super confident because of last years game with them and this years Florida game.

I almost blew a capillary in the second half of the uf game and swear it is the reason our defense stepped up their game from the first half. I intend to do the same this weekend, but I will be there in person, and by that logic, will this be close enough to will us to victory. 100%

If this game was on a nuetral field, I would be less than 50%. What gives me more comfidence is that we get to play USCjr at night, in dark mode, with our fans agry about last year, and players with revenge on their mind. I hope we play as many light shows, hypw videos, and stadium assisted chants during TV timeouts.

Outside of that, I'm pretty concerned. I don't trust Milton to take full advantage of USCs secondary. He just flat out misses thriws sometimes and will cause us to have empty drives no matter what USC does. But, then we have to worry about Rattler who had no problem carving us up last year and since then has been playing at a really high level. Sure, we may get to him.a few times, but he will have plenty success against our secondary as well. And if USC can stop our running game, it could be very hard to keep pace.

And Rogers looked terrible vs LSU. He even got replaced a few times by Wright (a former Vandy QB). Looks like So Carolina has a few injuries that hurt their chances and we have a few injury ? marks - may be the reason the line is double digits in Vols favor. Go beat the gamecocks.

Secondary will not be able to stop Leggett, Rattler could very well have a career day! Milton better be ready to get in a shootout cause the Vols will not be able to contain SC's offense.
Uh, Rattler won't have a career day. Did you not watch last year's game? That was a career day.
