oh i admit the vols were horrible.(hatvol96 @ May 30 said:More latent OU hatred. So a team that went 8-4 and beat the #6 team in the country "plain stunk?" What does that mean Fulmer's troops did last year? "Absolutely wreaked?" "Performed positively malodorously?"
(hatvol96 @ May 30 said:Look at the combined record of the four teams they lost to. Then tell me how bad OU was.
OU lost to TCU, not SMU.(Jasongivm6 @ May 30 said:OU lost to UCLA who lost to Arizona who lost to Washington
OU lost to Texas Tech who lost to Oklahoma State and Baylor
OU lost SMU, who lost to Marshall, Tulane, Baylor, East Carolina and Tulsa
Of course, Tennessee lost to Vanderbilt, who lost to..........MTSU, and so on and so on...
Texas Tech beat Baylor 28-0 last year.(Jasongivm6 @ May 30 said:OU lost to UCLA who lost to Arizona who lost to Washington

They don't get a pass. However, considering they had played for the National Championship 3 of the previous 5 years and participated in BCS bowls 4 of those 5, I think 8-4, with an inexperienced team across the board isn't too bad. Especially when those losses were against teams that combined to go 43-6. Let Fulmer put together a five year run like Stoops did from 2000-2004 and I'll give him a pass on an 8-4 year.(GAVol @ May 30 said:So why does Oklahoma suddenly get a pass on losing to quality opponents?
Why don't you just Not pull for UT and pull for OU only. Will that end your misery?(hatvol96 @ May 30 said:They don't get a pass. Why wouldn't I root for my alma mater? OU is a good standard for the current head coach at UT to shoot for. I don't have to choose between the two. It's not like Fulmer's going to get UT into a BCS bowl to set up a matchup with the Sooners. Also, Butch Davis will end all of our misery when he cleans Fulmer's mess up.(utfantilidie @ May 30 said:Why don't you just Not pull for UT and pull for OU only. Will that end your misery?
Texas is going to be very, very good. I think the defending National Champion is the conference favorite until someone proves otherwise.(milohimself @ May 30 said:OU is not overrated... IMO they ought to be the overwhelming favorite to win the Big XII. They started off slow last year because of a team that had virtually no collective experience. By about half way through the season Stoops really had things moving. All four teams Oklahoma lost to last year were good, as well. TCU, who was 11-1, UCLA, Texas and Texas Tech (the weakest of the bunch). But Oklahoma then went on to beat Oregon. The Sooners were very underrated at the end of last year, that Holiday Bowl match was a lot more even than most would think.
I don't think that's a rule. Many of the bandwagon media will make picks like that but I think it is taking the easy way out. Each team should be evaluated on their strengths and weaknesses for this year, not last year.(hatvol96 @ May 30 said:Texas is going to be very, very good. At some point, you gotta give credit where it is due. 11-1 for a team nobody saw coming is pretty damn impressive, even if it is in the Mountain West (which is, in my estimation the 6th best conference in the land -- better than the Big East).(Jasongivm6 @ May 31 said:How many other good teams did they play?
None.
