Zach Azzanni

“Zach is a tireless worker who has a knack for getting the most out of his players,” said head coach Butch Jones. “Our receivers will be fundamentally sound in all aspects of their game.”

Above quote pulled from CMU site.

Butch is comfortable with him and knows what he can do. I suspect he is more informed than posters on Volnation who have never met or worked with him in any capacity. If hired, good. If not, someone else will be. No worries.

I am fine with CBJ hiring his guys. That helps with coaching philosophy and coach chemistry. Focus on our players and get them ready. Go Vols!

Well he did say he was going to have the best coaching staff in America. Who would have guessed that 85% of them were in Cincinnati?

Hope you weren't a math major.

9 assistants 7 of which appear to be from Cincy.

Your not very good at math are you? So far we have 3 coaches that were not at Cincinnati and CBJ tried to add a fourth (Tee). As I've said for three days now Azzanni has not been offered and will not be offered.

Well I don't know about my math skills but the MAJORITY of his coaches are from his staff at Cincy. You can say what you want but this is not the all world staff that he claimed he would have. I am not bashing him. I don't care if he heads out to the local Pee Wee field. He will be accountable in the end for the performance on the field.

Oh and by the way....his strength coach is over there too. SO that makes 7 of 10 for 70%.

If he doesn't hire Weist it will be 60% or about half (since your approximation is poor so can mine)

I don't mind your approximation. Anything over 50% would be a majority of his coaches. I don't see anything all world about it. To be honest nothing excites me about it except J. Graham and he inherited him.

He got guys he knew and who know his system, i honestly think its a great staff. 3 really good recruiters that are familiar with the SEC in Martinez, Thigpen, and Graham, as well as his guys who have won 4 championships in 6 seasons. Not saying that will automatically translate into an SEC championship year 1, but im not gonna bash him for picking coaches hes familiar with, lets just see what they do. If any of you follow Mark Elder on Twitter, it seems they have been relentlessly recruiting all over since he was hired.

Yep. :good!:

Maybe it's the best staff in the country to run his system and teach it to our athletes? Makes sense to me.

I'm not bashing him either. It just doesn't coincide with his press conference statement of it being a world class staff. It may turn out to be a great staff. I am not judging him based on his staff selections to this point. His first test will be how we finish on the recruiting trail in February. His second will be how he handles his business off the field during the spring and summer, including off the field issues as we know will occurr, always do. And his third test will be how his teams compete on the field. The win/loss record isn't important to me as much as how the team competes. We should win all the games we're supposed to win and win at least one we shouldn’t. That will tell me that progress is being made. By year three if we are still a 7-8 win team it will tell me he's not getting it done. JMO

The "best staff" is not necessarily the best somewhere else or what others think it is, but rather the one that is right for us.

Until proven otherwise, I accept Coach Jones' staff as being best for our team and our needs. They certainly are beating the bushes and going wide open on recruiting, and it sounds as if he and his staff are doing better with getting in touch with HS coaches, future players, and former players than anyone we have had in a while.

We can only go up, but we need some of the dead weight off so we can. Nitpicking now does not seem to serve any useful purpose. Give them a chance.
