Zeigler's 3pt shooting

Jordon Bone was a damn good finisher too. He got to the rim faster and quicker than Chandler

Chandler got to the rim a lot. More than ZZ IIRC. But I think that ZZ is better when a defender is guarding him tight when he cuts through the paint and he’s able to get shots up before weak side help contests his shot.

He was, another guy that would dunk. But, I'm still taking Chandler. No proof, just my opinion

“Taking him” wasn’t the question. He had more talent, but he was just a freshman. IMO ZZ has been more effective at finishing than the rest. But if picking a PG for a team it would be KC. And then Bone. Two guys that probably should have opted for one more year under Barnes. But I think that Bone stopped going to his classes and it wasn’t going to be an option. I doubt that KC even considered a 2nd year at UT. He wasn’t ready - but at least he’s been paid.

I know it can be frustrating and even feel bad for him when those 3s aren't falling.

But honestly I'm not worried I feel like he's had a slow start to the season the past few years and I know the injury played a roll in prior year.

But I have full confidence he will work through it, and show up when it matters.

ZZ's shot looks a little funny. I think it's mechanical. Started when we went to the island. It can be fixed.

Yeah his jumper is definitely different. I understand coaches working with players to improve their shot, but you’d think they would know if someone’s % is going down year over year, they’d let them go back to what was working for them.

I love how people get bent outta shape over wording in a post.

Just read the #$+&#! Post and if you want to discuss the topic at hand, then discuss it. If not, don't.

Dissecting semantics is annoying.
This. Just tell it like it is. People will get bent out of shape regardless of how you phrase it. This is why the older I get the less I care what people think of what I say. I try to make it more times than not that I speak facts and not go overboard and get emotional because I do that sometimes too. I try to give credit where it's due as well.

Having said all that, ZZ has struggled from 3. He's also turned the ball over alot more than I can remember in his time here, has made some bad decisions on lobs, or just plain been off on them. I feel like he's tried to force things a bit too much. Not really a cause for concern just yet, players go through funks like this at times. I think he will find his groove at some point.

We definitely need him to round back in to shape come conference play, because it's gonna be a brutal stretch.

If you have to say "want to preface this" or :with that said" or "with all due respect" then you probably should think of a different way to express the thought.

Maybe something like "I wonder what is wrong with ZZ shot? His 3 % is down 9 points and his shots per game are up. I would love to see him make more or shoot a little less until his shot comes back"
Good job reply monitor.

Want to preface this as I'm in no way trying to drag ZZ or be overly critical. As he is our most important player and the glue for the team for everything that he does and brings to the floor.

With that said, Zeigler's shooting is becoming a bit of a concern at this point.

11 games into the season and he's shooting 29.7% on 3s. But over the last 7 games he is 9/43 on 3s for 20.9%... I know we're not looking for or need him to he a 20 ppg scorer, but still would like to either see those 3pt attempts decrease or the % go up.
Simply put... He's fine. Some shooters are streaky. No cause for concern in December!!

I would prefer that people not be rude and disrespectful toward our players, especially that guy! With all his family has been through and how much of a VFL that guy is, why would anyone be anything but respectful to him?

"I want to preface this by saying" a another way of saying I don't want you to think I am an ass but I am gonna be an ass toward this guy.

I think it’ll be just a matter of time before ZZ gets going.

He’s being asked to do a lot more than last season to facilitate the offense & lead with all of the new pieces.

It was much easier to get the ball to Knecht and let him do his thing, and he was already comfortable playing around SV, JJJ, and Aidoo, upperclassmen who knew the offense inside & out.

I think he’ll be alright.

Not trying to be overly critical of the OP, as I am sure their feelings are legitimate, but with that being said, I must comment. It is an absolute requirement that this fanbase find something to be worried about this team. We are 11-0, ranked #1 in the nation, but there is a problem with the player that was ONE assist away from having only the second triple double in UT basketball history. We have massive depth and scoring is not a problem this year. As a fanbase, please push aside BVS and just enjoy the magnificent monster that Tennessee Athletics have become. Basketball is 20-0 combined, Baseball team is reigning National Champs, and the football team is fixing to win their first Game in the college football playoffs. Breathe and enjoy.

I'll go out on a limb and say the OP made the preface because they knew some in this forum can't handle good-faith critical discussions on the basketball team.

You are severely misinterpreting the OP's sentiment.

Why any of you would feel the need to be the self appointed forum monitor is confusing to me. If you think someone is violating the rules freak has laid out for VN, then report the post and allow the guys who provide this forum to decide if someone is attacking the athletes inappropriately. If you disagree with the facts of someone’s post, then challenge those facts and quit trying to make it personal. I don’t think some of you realize how mind numbing it is to read your petty arguments with each other. And yes, I use the ignore feature plenty, but it’s impossible to know I’m about to read a shatty post until I start reading it.

Now, get off my lawn!

And since no one has pointed it out yet, the example in this thread has to be one of the weakest of all time. The "incendiary" comment was that Zeigler's 3pt shooting struggles are concerning. That was literally it. By some of the reactions, you would think that the OP had threatened Zeigler's life or something...

All what you said is true. I think everyone IS enjoying it. Doesn't stop us from wondering what's up with Ziegler's shot. It's just something to discuss among fans in December.

As for Z, I think it's just a slump and he'll come out of it just fine at some point. Hopefully sooner than later.
