I was thinking the same...it was a surpise to see...at 6'5 it shouldn't be an issue.
It’s most likely one of the “deficiencies” Golesh mentioned. Not debilitating, but in effect it makes you shorter and takes away some of the advantage 6’5 height should provide. I remember similar being said about Dormady. Easier for DL to knock down passes.

That’s a myth. Mahommes throws side arm and is only 6’3”. The only issue with a lower pump action is the risk of it being stripped when the pocket starts to collapse

He CAN throw sidearm and does when it’s needed. More on improvised situations when taller DL are in his face and he’s passing AROUND them…he’s not 6’5. He’s also not Bernie Kosar. Being fundamentally schooled by Kingsbury helped him shoot up the draft board during Senior Bowl workouts…that’s not a MYTH.

Mahommes throws side arm or a low 3/4 arm slot from the pocket. Also, Rex Grossman and Doug Flutie had solid NFL careers and they were both under 6 feet

If you looked at Mahomes from a purely mechanics point of view, without looking at success, you'd swear it wouldn't work well.

Dissecting every low elbow, holds the ball too long, or is too stiff isn't productive. A QB doesn't need to be a perfect mechanics robot, a QB needs to lead and get results. People forget Manning threw a butt load of INTs early on..... was he hopelessly careless with the ball? Did it screw up his career?

Let's dial down the hyper-analysis of: his motion isn't perfect or he's hesitating or he's not looking aggressive enough or whatever.

They're not going magically become perfect just like Mahomes isn't going to stop throwing sidearm, cross-body, cross field balls that shouldn't...... and don't always..... work. Great mechanics are wonderful but winning isn't just mechanics.
