Jamey Chadwell (Coastal Carolina)

He has become my top target, because he is attainable and has a ton of good attributes for this job. I don't think they are going to do it, though.
Mine too. Makes too much sense for our leaders to pull the trigger on him. I think Satterfield or Mendenhall could do well here. If it’s a left field hire.

I just don't see any way we will hire a coach that apparently didn't monitor his players with that leading to two seasons being forfeited and 32 players suspended while firing a coach for failure to monitor. Even if Chadwell didn't know it was going on, the coach still should know. At the FBS level he would likely have gotten the same failure to monitor charge Freeze got.

Edited:

Coastal was a top notch FCS team before he got there. They won 12, 12, 9, and 10 games before he got there. He then had 3 straight losing seasons at Coastal when they moved up to FBS, though their schedule wasn't a ton harder than it was as an FCS team. He’s won two games vs a P5 school in his entire career and that was vs Kansas who is probably the worst p5 program.

This year, due to covid he got on tv a lot and there were more ranked g5 teams than normal because of the season unfolding oddly.

If he wasn't from East Tennessee people would be raising hell about him if he were being considered like they have with every other candidate not named Freeze.

There's also a ton of recency bias going on with Chadwell. Nothing in his past indicated this kind of season was coming for him. Charleston won 10 and 8 games just before he took over and won 7 to 10 games while he was there.

If they can forgive Franklin for his sins and make him an offer, they should have been able to do likewise for Freeze and Chadwell.

Franklin never has had an NCAA issue and was not in any way involved in the Vanderbilt rape incident.

Charleston Southern went 0-11 and 5-6 in the last two seasons before Chadwell became their HC.
Chadwell's first season at Coastal Carolina was their first FBS season, and he was the interim HC while the HC was on medical leave. His second season was as the OC. He then became the HC for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. It's true that he didn't build the program at Coastal and that this season was a surprise.

I hope they hire Chadwell. He's a star compared to the names being rumored lately. Agreed that the NCAA issues at Charleston may prevent him from being hired here.

Regardless, it is still a bad look in this day and age with Title 9 compliance.

That's not even close to the same thing, Franklin had nothing to do with that. I would love Freeze, but if we want squeaky clean guys then Freeze, Chadwell and Kiffin are not options. I don't understand the obsession with Chadwell. His teams played dirty and he had one good season at a non power 5 school. Anyone who saw Coastal play saw that they had tendencies to play dirty. No Thanks!!

Then enjoy losing with Heupel.

Playing dirty? No. Just bullying tendencies. They were't going for people knees or hitting people in the back. They roughed up Wilson of BYU, but it was off an interception.

Their execution was very clean. Well coached team that punched above their weight.
Unlike Huepels UCF team that got punked by BYU. And UCF is more talented than Coastal.

You can't compare how one team does against another and determine which coach is better or team. Hell Vandy should have beat A'M last season and almost did ( lost 17-12)..We beat the Brakes off Vandy then got our butt kicked by A'M. Use your head bruh, that's a horrible comparison. And Coastal got into it with Liberty, played dirty against rhem as well. They had the reputation as a dirty team..you don't get that by one bad play.

If UT spends all those $millions for an AD that brings us a coach that is running down another program, and that is Huepel's record, we should immediately replace him with a monkey and a dart board.

What the F does this mean? Heupel is 28-8 at UCF in 3 seasons. I give..Obviously you a$$ clowns are better suited to make the HC decisions than the man getting paid 1.8 mill. UT could have saved a ton and offered you and a few of your buddies on here a years supply of smokes, Natty Light and a year subscription to Porn Hub. I really hope you guys get the last call, we will be out of the cellar in no time. 🤕🤥

You keep saying that, but what examples do you have?
I watched them all season. All I saw was an aggressive well coached team.

You don't want Chadwell, fine. But saying he coaches a bunch of thugs, come on man.

hahaha. Jesus man, what is your problem?

Heupel is better than some give him credit for, but you honestly believe he is going to take UT upward?

Why do you like him?

That being said.. If he surprises us with someone like Satterfield, who did phenomenal at App state then that’s a home run for us too. Which I think he has something like this up his sleeve. ..?

I don’t think Satterfield is a HR, but I’d definitely take him at this point and thank him for walking into this.

he’s coach of the year, has a son named after a TN quarterback, would win the press conference, his players play hard for him, and he would walk on broken glass to Knoxville for this job. I want someone who wants to be here and not just because of the $’s
