Post from someone at the game...

I saw a few times tonight where I thought he should have ran it, but Justin had taken so many hits by then that I can't blame the guy for not pulling it down and running it. He had to be a little gun shy after even the first quarter. Hell, I know if I would've been in his shoes I wouldn't have been looking for more contact. I think Worley played a pretty solid game considering all the pressure he was under. Their D-LINE is no joke. They were fast. That backer they had was all over the place on every play. We had no answer for for him all night.

agree - I think he wanted to run it in instead of throwing to Croom, but after the beating he had taken - why take a chance on that Striker leveling him again

Some of you guys are acting like it was just for this game....it was the EXACT same for the previous two games. Let the record show, there are threads dedicated to both games you can review for yourselves...if you know how to read, which at this point I question one of you...

If its the coaches call it is...I respect that...but Im TIRED of seeing open avenues for him to run and he doesnt...its called a read option for a reason...

Again...for whatever reason it's not always an option.

Actually the vast majority of the time, there isn't an option.

I think what some fans don't realize with the read option, is the defense sees the ball quicker (responds quicker) than the fans see it. Once the defender responds, their all in, such as going toward the middle, thus there "appears" to be an opening the QB could have ran through. But the defender was reading their options too.

It happened last season to, so I blame the coaches - why use this system with a pro style QB -- It was Fulmers downfall with Klawson trying to run it with Crompton

91 stayed home on the left all night. That grimlin striker was too quick to keep and go right. There was maybe 2 plays that worley Maybe gets back to scrimmage if he keeps. You way off on QB being your 1st complaint. If u think u can see better from the stadium than we can from the couch u should be gripin about the no call holding or pass interference. I don't think OU was called on either all night. Maybe I missed one when I went to bathroom

Worley would have gotten killed if he "ran" more last night. Come on people..

Not even two years into a new offense and defense and people think we are going to be world beaters..

You put in your system and work with what you have until you can get the people that fit your system. I've said it before, we have to let the Dooley recruits slowly trickle out. That is not a knock on Worley though..he is night and day compared to last year and its a positive.

The threat of him running is the problem. Nobody respects him running because they know it is a 10 yard mistake if he does keep it and he will only do that 1 out of 20ish times. They are going to crash down eeeevvery time.

I am in no way lying or in any other way fabricating. Worley was joked at, even THANKED amongst the crowd I was aoung, section 35, for not running the ball. One a play in the 3rd the fans in front of me said in jest, he could have run it in!

Not judging, providing details..

He was 11 yards away.......he was not running it in.

Oklahoma was scared at several points in the game...they thought they were about to get they azz whooped.

First half had them worried. They knew down 13-7 they were a score away from losing.

OU fans are humble and gracious hosts. I didnt have a negative experience one.

We had flashes of greatness. Hurd's run. D kept their run game on lock.

It was the inconsistencies. It was the 3 turnovers in red zone. It was the difference. OU knew it.

This is the only game I have been to this year and I am excited, very excited.

Oh, by the way, no knock to OU, but their stadium was...not...so..good...people couldnt get to their seats, no markings to help people, no staff to help. I waited 30 minutes to get to my seat, while at the bottom of the stairs. It should have taken 3. OU fans actually apologized.

I am excited and you should be too.

Negatives:

Worley. He doesnt keep, he is afraid to get hit, he could have run several times for positive yards, 1st down, and even one potential TD.

I think this O would be better in its current state with a dual threat.

GBO!
I agree 1000%! We need a dual qb!

The receivers could have caught the ball at some opportune times to help out Worley. The defense let some big plays get through. Turnovers are always a killer. Worley was on his backside too much. We could never overcome the offensive line struggles. Yeah ... we were definitely inconsistent. GO VOLS

Worley is our best option but we need some QB runs even if the are only for 3 yards to open things up. Last night the line wouldn't hold long enough to allow the passing game to open up play.

Op had my attention until he went off on Worley being "afraid". That's laughable. Sure tired of hearing that blaring OU band last night. What was that wretched blast of horns just before we'd get set? Not hearing "Rocky Top" at a UT game is unforgiveable.

he was afraid to run the ball...OU fans were making fun of him. They said...oh look, the option, I wonder who isnt going to run...

Were you at the game? No...Worley disappointed the TN fans around me, and rejoiced the OU fans around me...

Idiot in my opinion.

Sorry guys OP is right on Worley not wanting to get hit. Getting hit doesnt makebtou tough. Last night they needed to let the QB keep at least once or twice.

The play calling? Oh my. The opening play (which you know they worked on ALL week) was slowwwww. Then the idiots ran the same play again later in the game with similar results.
This shows me they don't understand this level of football. That was a high school play and not a very good one.

I don't think Worley is 'afraid' to get hit but there were definitely a few times he could've kept the ball and slid in untouched for at least a first down. OP is right about that. Maybe he is being asked to 'play it safe' but after being told last year that he needed to keep it more, I have a little trouble believing that..

Nice review of the atmosphere. How did the stripe seating look at the game? Looked quite neat on tv. If we could do this in Neyland, would look friggin awesome. Cheggerboard seating maybe?

Side note, Worley actually got a personal visit from Stoops letting him know he is a good QB and asking him to keep him head up. Thought he did fantastic considering the circumstances.

I blame coaching on running an offense that our QB is not made for. The zone read would be perfect for Dobbs but he isn't playing. Worley is not a zone read QB. I really think we would have a better offense if we lined up in the I formation and used an H- back with Worley at QB.
