This offense works with the right QB

Team chemistry is one of those elusive factors. One or two personnel changes and the whole team can change its demeanor almost immediately. The OL completely responded to Dobbs tonight. They looked seasoned and confident. It was like night and day compared to previous games.

They really did. And it's because they get to just have some fun with it. They know if the pocket collapses Dobbs is going to take off and make something happen. Probably were silently sick and tired of Worley standing there as the line comes at him an just holding on to the ball. I swear he just prepares for impact. A lot less pressure is on them with a dual threat qb.

Our philosophy, plays, and play-calling changed.

I saw a lot of formations and plays I never saw before.

We never saw that terrible jet sweep reverse, did we?

CBJ is finally making different decisions and I give him props.

I just hope that we don't "change" back to the old ways.

Its was all about the QB change... Go back and read your thread...

You are 100% correct. The problem is, for those on this board calling for some changes in play calling, substitutions (to keep rested players on the field) etc., they are attacked as not knowing anything about football, and their suggestions are stupid because they are not a SEC head coach. Yet, as you rightly point out, when some changes do happen regarding these things, not one of the testosterone limited posters admit, that you are correct. We can easily chalk those guys off as complete idiots lacking personal fortitude. Great post!!:eek:k::clapping:

Do we want to fahr him this week or not? I'm confused now...

I would like to see him have a more diversified portfolio of sets/plays a mix of some conventional sets and his unconventional "option read".

Just like any smart investor has a diversified investment portfolio. Or, in milder terms, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Dobbs played surprising well at times. He made many plays on his own after the called play broke down.

I'm still certainly on the fence with Bajakian and I also believe could certainly upgrade at that staff position. Just because UT closed the gap to 14 with a Bama team that may or may not have let up, I'm not ready to give Bajakian a crown or anything.

I've seen enough bad out of his decision making as well.....

If Dobbs can dial in the accuracy, he has a cannon for an arm. Guy throws some darts out on the field

His accuracy will improve. I love the intangibles he brings to the table

The intermediate throws are already dramatically improved. The deep ball was forced last night due to trying to make a play late so that's excusable. For the most part the deep ball is good. The short pass is in need of lots of practice.

While it would have been nice to have Dobbs for 3 more years we need to win NOW. By the time Dobbs leaves we will have Jennings/Dormady ready to hit the field with 2 years in the system. The future is shaping up rather nicely.

Agreed. Had Dobbs not had such an atrocious string of summer practices - in which he literally could not complete three-yard routes - he starts against Utah State.
Here once again, the moron class strikes. How does this Einstein know what Dobbs did during summer practice? He knows exactly what the radio guys that he believes speak truth know; zip, nada, zilch. Clue you in guy, the radio talking heads didn't ever know a thing about what was happening in practice. They got to see five minutes and were then escorted out. Duh. But afterwards, they have to fill hours of airtime with something; mostly delusional fairytale's that make them sound like they're in the know. They know nothing at all, but you know one thing, and you learned it right before your eyes last night. :hi:

The coaches should have started him from DAY ONE. He can do more than Worley--we saw that LAST YEAR. It was stupid not to play him from the start of this season. He's lost a half year of experience because the coaches couldn't see what was obvious. He can roll out, he can scramble, he can run the ball--and he throws it as well as if not better than Worley. It should have been a no brainer.

This dolt keeps spouting this trash AFTER seeing Dobbs have a pretty good game.... earlier in the week he said it was a "mistake" to burn Dobbs redshirt if Worley can't go.

Seriously... go look at his post history from last week.

And, for the record, what we saw from Dobbs last year was like 2td 6int, some fumbles and like 150 yards rushing over multiple games. I like Dobbs and think he will be a good qb in time... but pretending like he was the second coming as a way to somehow justify this hindsight is absolute horse**** and you deserve to be called out for it.

Its to early to declare Dobbs the saviour at QB. Lets just wait and see how he plays the rest of the season.

I think we all learned at least two things last night. 1. Dobbs is the best option at qb. The whole body language of the team changed when he came into that game. He keeps drives alive with his feet. That allows the d to actually rest. 2. The o line can actually block. I don't know how, but they did.

A lot of designed qb keepers which were very effective. Couldn't call those with Worley, could and did with Dobbs.

That's the head scratcher.
You could call those with Worley and either didn't or he checked out of them.
Worley doesn't run anywhere near as good as Dobbs but any running would have helped him. He was getting hit on every play anyway.

I agree and have been telling this to everyone. Our Off scheme is tailored for a dual threat QB.

i do wonder however that since the coaches decided to go with Worley at the top of the season why do you not tailor the scheme to the QB? Especially since they knew from the start Worley was not made for a Spread Off. Or go with the mobile QB that makes your spread Off work?
