Maurer was clearly considered by the coaching staff to be ahead of Shrout last year. He had won the starting job from JG (who was as inept as a 4th year QB could possibly be), but lost it due to injuries.

He did regardless. But that was ridiculously bad play on the part of JJ. He essentially handed the ball to the DB on a perfect throw. If he cannot clean up the INT's and/or throw more TD's then he won't ever start for UT.
No. If you weren't so blinded you would have seen honest criticism of others from me all along. Are expectations of a RS Jr higher than a true Fr? For sure. But that doesn't mean fair criticism is out of bounds.
