My expectations are simple...and the same for anyone at this point. What would you like to see in Coach Heupel’s first year to make you feel confident in him being here long term?
1. Show improvement in coaching...shouldn't be hard. The team should look well coached, developed, and disciplined...even in the face of a talent deficit.
2. Don't get blown out....especially at home. I have confidence in Heupels ability to scheme and score points.
3. Beat those teams you're supposed to, compete with the rest...especially the big 3. Look like you're supposed to be there, and maybe you'll get lucky with one of them.
Do those things and you'll give me enough to cheer for, and hope for the future. I think Heupel may be the guy to do it. He's an out-of-the-box choice. We are no longer going to try to "out-Bama" Bama.
I'll be thrilled with 6-6/ 7-5...and a bowl game if we are allowed. I think it would be a homerun season and an indicator of a staff that knows what they are doing...especially considering all of the adversity. I have been charter member Nega-Vol for the last three regimes, and I have a very different feeling this time around. I don't expect miracles...just slow, but steady improvement until one day we wake up and are back in the conversation.
