Tyler Bray

Tyler Bray, a tall pro-style quarterback from Kingsburg High School in Kingburg, CA has been committed to San Diego State for over a month now but with a recent surge in interest from the Tennessee Volunteer staff Bray has decided he needs to check out what the Vols can offer and if he needs to open things back up. VolNation recently spoke with Bray about his possible visit out to Tennessee and where he currently stands.

“Right now I am still committed to San Diego State,” said Bray. “However, I am going to be going out to Tennessee to check them out and see what they have to offer.”

Bray was planning on going out to Tennessee on September 12th to see the Volunteers in action against UCLA but with his high school season picking up his trip was forced to be shuffled a bit and a new date has been set for his visit out to Knoxville.

“Things have changed for me now, I won’t be going to Tennessee on the 12th of September,” said Bray. “Instead I am going to out there a week earlier and see them play Western Kentucky on the 5th. I have a high school game on the 12th so I wasn’t able to get out there.”

With a visit in order now for Bray he has a few things he is looking for when he gets out to Tennessee and sees the Vols in action in person.

“Well the staff has talked to me about a few things that have really caught my eye to have me visit,” said Bray. “For one the chance to play in the best conference against the best competition is one of them. I could really get good exposure for myself by playing in the SEC. Pro teams take the SEC seriously and that could be huge. Tennessee is also saying that I have the chance to play early if I go there. I want a chance to compete and to play early at an SEC school like Tennessee is big.”

With a visit set for Bray he still wanted to make sure everyone knows he is still committed to San Diego State and is just making sure he is going to the right school.

“I am still committed to San Diego State, I just need to check out Tennessee first,” said Bray.

VolNation.com will certainly track this interesting development and give you an update on Tyler Bray and his interest in Tennessee once he completes his official visit.

If we can show this boy just how serious we are about early playing time and have the right commits at reciever, he can be swayed. He’s commited, commited to finding the right situation for himself! With him comming on Sept. 5 instead of the 12th should work in our favor ,too. After he visits our facilities, it might help to sway him also, as I understand we have the latest and greatest in all the locker room and training facitilities in not just the SEC, but in all of college football! I believe he’s the one our coaches have been waiting for. In closing, if you read these Tyler, come on a have a great career with the Vols! GO VOLS!!!

Let’s see.. go back to the home opener when the Cal Bears came to Neyland Stadium after a sub par season the previous year, that place was off the hinge. Should make a great impression on any recruit with a new coaching staff, and the promise of great things to come for the Vols… WOW

We should show him how serious we are by letting him quarterback the team in the Western Kentucky game.

I have to say after looking at the USC website on another USC hopeful Jessie Scroggings, then the film on Bray at that same camp I wasn’t too impressed with either QB. In fact several recruiting sites got Jesse Scroggins and Jeremy Cannon Northwest Cabarrus in Concord NC mixed up. The Vols were looking at Cannon last year before his knee injury and based off his summer camps he really may be the best QB in the nation. All the coaches from USC were all over the Cannon kid all camp as he received the most reps and most TD’s. All three kids, Chase Rettig, Scroggins, and Bray didn’t get many reps or looked accurate. Check out the youtube video from the camp. Video can’t lie.

“On the offensive side, the quarterbacking corps wasn’t as huge as in previous years. But Jesse Scroggins was by far the cream of the crop, and Pete Carroll wasted little time in letting him know it. Carroll spent a good part of the day coaching Scroggins. Then at the mid-way point on Day 2, Scroggins walked off the field with quarterback coach, Jeremy Bates, and received a scholarship offer.
While Tyler Bray and Chase Rettig both showed good skills under center, Jeremy Cannon from North Carolina was the second best quarterback after Scroggins.”

ESPN Wrote:

“One other quarterback who looked good for the second day in a row was Jeremy Cannon (Concord, N.C./Northwest Carrubus). Cannon missed all of last year with an ACL injury but he has been a starter since his freshman year and based on what we saw today he should end up with plenty of scholarship offers when all is said and done. ”
