While the season may be over for the Tennessee Volunteers the recruiting season is one that is never over due coaches having to focus on the current class of 2010 while also giving a good blend of attention to 2011 and 2012 recruits. For one 2011 prospect head coach Lane Kiffin made an appearance at his high school recently.
“Coach Kiffin actually just stopped by my school to check some stuff out,” explained Brian Randolph (Marietta, GA/ Kell HS). “I am not exactly sure why he was here but it shows they are interested in me this early.”
Randolph is a 6’ 180 pound safety that sports a solikd forty time and because of his impressive junior year already has a good amount of scholarship offers.
“I have offers from Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida, Virginia Tech, Stanford, Duke, Vandy, and NC State,” says Randolph.
With an already impressive scholarship list Randolph insists he is keeping his mind open.
“I don’t have any favorites at this time sir,” said Randolph. “It is still early in the process for me.”
While it may be early Randolph stated he is looking for a school where he could earn early playing time as well as playing within the southeast which is near his home in Georgia.
“I’d like to go somewhere that allows myself to play early and at the same time stay close to home here in the southeast,” stated Randolph.
Tennessee fits that criteria and in fact played host to Randolph earlier in the college football season.
“I actually went to visit Tennessee during the season when they played host to UCLA,” says Randolph. “I really enjoyed my visit there. I had never seen a stadium so big it was amazing. It was really loud and actually hurt my ears when I was down there.”
Randolph appears to be an early target for the Volunteers and VolNation.com will keep you up to date on all news and information for the 2010 class and as 2011 starts taking shape we will provide more coverage.
