Gainesville, GA.- Tennessee fans are no stranger to the name AJ Johnson. The Gainesville high star committed to Tennessee late in 2009. Once Lane Kiffin left for USC, well you know the rest. Tennessee has struggled to gauge how much interest he has in returning to Knoxville potentially. Volnation reporter Justin Hopkins caught up with him to get the latest.
“Well I’ve been to Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and Auburn recently. I’m going to Florida for Florida night lights next month. That’s the only other visit I know of right now.”
AJ went on to discuss those three visits in limited detail.
“Tennessee it went good. I got to know the coaches and hang out with players. I like them a lot, it’s a place I could be going. Auburn I wasn’t there long, it was just for a camp, but it went well. Georgia Tech, once again, wasn’t there long, I spoke to the coaches which was cool. The Tennessee trip stood out since I got to talk with the players and stuff.”
He mentioned that there are no new schools entering the mix and has narrowed his list to focus on three for now.
“Clemson, Tennessee, and Florida are recruiting me the hardest. They are also my top 3 schools in no order. I know for sure I will take officials to those schools. I don’t know if I’ll take anymore, after that I’ll make my commitment. Hopefully before my season ends.”
He plans on taking his family on his official visits. He will also be looking at depth charts as a primary factor.
