The Official #5 Tennessee @ Texas A&M Weekend Series Thread (Game 1 Saturday @ 3PM) (Game 2 Saturday @ 5PM) (Game 3 Sunday @ 1PM)

This one hurts for two reasons.

1) A&M is an inferior team and we had a 3 run lead in the 7th.
2) Assuming Vandy doesn't have an Ole Miss type comeback, if we had won we would have been tied for 1st. Now, if we mess up tomorrow and UF sweeps Auburn we will fall to tied for 4th with South Carolina.

Top 8 Bigun, all that matters. That said I don’t love our chances versus Arky or SC to close out the season, so IMO we need to make hay the next three weekends.

It’s the SEC. no one and I mean no one is going to go squeaky clean thru this gauntlet.

btw rocker was up to 98 so you ok with the vandy pitching coach not getting fired now?

Where have you been? It’s been established that his velo is back. I said it last weekend and witnessed it. But you weren’t listening or didn’t want to hear it, the commentators said last night exactly what I said which was Rocker’s velo was down for about 3 weeks and it is back.

We have had 3 losses that have really hurt ,
Georgia loss , Florida loss and this one... I think we should have won all 3. Ol well. On to tomorrow... we have a great baseball team but unfortunately they aren’t going to play perfect. We are 11-6 with a chance to leave Texas 12-6 in SEC play. So let’s regroup and win the series... Blade Tidwell will be lights out tomorrow!! Calling it ... he’s due to be on!!! Go Vols...

Just making sure you weren’t still blaming the pitching coach

You guys stop it with the terrible loss BS
there is no such thing in the SEC especially on the road

Win tomorrow and it was a great weekend on the road In the SEC

How can you say that when there's been 2-3 games where they blew it when being in complete control of the game? This team very easily could be 14-3 and leading the entire conference, and should be 13-4 and tied for it. They cannot take advantage of opportunity right now.

In 5 of our SEC losses, if I'm counting right, we have had the lead. Vandy's Friday night shutout being the only game we didn't lead. And 4 of the 6 losses we have had more than a 1 run lead. Lead UGA by 2, Florida by 2, Bama by 4, and A&M by 3.

I'm more puzzled why Vitello left Connell to go in the 7th than I am why he pitched Hunley 2 innings in the 1st game.

Isn’t it the top 4 that gets a bye in Hoover? With our pen, that makes a big difference.

Don’t play the what if game. This team has won a lot of close come from behind games as well. It evens out and this team is over achieving to be honest. There aren’t many can’t miss draft guys on this team like most of the SEC has

There have also been a few walkoffs and come from behind wins in our favor too. It evens out over the course of a long season.

Gotcha.

I’d like to skip day one in Hoover.

Well we could always melt down, but if we can handle our business we should be past that.

I know, after today it’s still a big if, but it might not ever line up better schedule wise than this season.

I’m really not a fan of what happens in Hoover mattering in this case. I don’t think the Vols arms are deep enough to win it anyways and I think they are better off heading home, resting up and getting their arms set for a regional.

Tenn will be one of few 1 seeds that would have serious trouble is they someone how lost game 1 in a regional due to pitching depth. They need their arms rested and ready for that if they were to lose a game in a regional

I do believe we have a better chance of winning a regional than the SEC tourney. An early exit from Hoover might be an advantage.

It was probably a combination of both. Rocker was getting people out and winning games with a 91 fastball so why put the extra stress on the arm and pump it in at 97? It was cold in March and April and why risk injury and he has a lot of baseball left. It was never a real concern anyway.
