Came across then on Facebook but haven't seen it confirmed anywhere? I know he was a name being thrown around

Not surprised. With Gainey on scholarship, someone had to go. Can’t say I’m not slightly disappointed though. I would have loved to see how BJ could have grown under Barnes over the next 3 years. Good luck to him though. Hope he lands on his feet.

Barnes and his staff get paid the big bucks to make hard decisions. UT has yet to have a transfer under Barnes really pan out IMO. Pushing out Edwards, who showed some promise in limited time as a true freshman, for Gainey and Co. seems like a risky move to me, particularly with the transfer struggles to date. I guess we shall see how it goes.

We would’ve been better off just taking another transfer with his spot last year. Think Barnes felt he had to take him because he was a “local 4 star”

I think the only reason I was hoping this wouldn’t happen is now we have to go through yet another cycle with the local idiots hating Rick Barnes and wanting him fired because a local kid didn’t become an All-American. It’s already happening from some of the reactions I’ve seen.

I have all the FanRun nutjobs muted/blocked on socials for this reason. Well, and other reasons too.

It’s not just the radio personalities, I’ve already seen the typical negative Nacy reactions on social media asking for “Barnes to hit the portal” and “another Rick Barnes failure” just weeks after we bring in the best portal class we’ve had yet.

What promise did he show?

I’d didn’t see it.

I Knew someone had to leave we may need another to do it. The numbers are over the limit as we have to see what a couple of players are going to do.

Not to be harsh on Edwards....but what games did you watch where he "showed promise" because I am just honestly curious? He did look very good in high school vs high school competition. But on the floor for UT last season it was obvious that he was not ready for that level.

People act like no one had to leave

Not to be rude, but what did he show at Tennessee? I know he was just a freshman but he looked slow. I can see him going to a non p5 abd doing alright

Good luck to him and i wish him well
