2025 Transfer Portal Thread

Going to need half a team from the portal. Need versatile players that can shoot the three, but also defend. Need a better rebounding team than this one. Have to hope the three inside players stay here. We'll have to get a better point guard than Boswell. Tough job ahead for Barnes the SEC is getting tougher every season.

We need to pounce on Gillespie if Willard ends up accepting the Nova job
3.19.25: Gillespie’s transfer decision was two-fold, according to his dad, Byron Gillespie. The first was to increase his potential offerings on the NIL market. The second was to help lead a team to the tournament...His mom, Heather Johnson, said he “would have probably” gone to his home state’s Tennessee Volunteers if point guard Zakai Zeigler weren’t there.
Behind Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s quiet demeanor is a ‘killer instinct’

Per Trilly - Nova circled back to Willard after he stalled on signing his extension and they’ve offered him the job over the past day or two
Would be a really good hire for them, I think. Nova obviously has had a lot of past success, but Maryland is no slouch either.

I think the appeal is the NIL distribution Nova's basketball program is likely to get over Maryland's who is obviously going to invest a decent bit towards football.

Wow didn’t hold back anything

If I’ve learned anything from hearing years of coach speak-this pretty much confirms he’s leaving lol

In all seriousness though that’s a scathing statement. Maryland really does feel like it prefers to move backwards instead of forwards, and I wouldn’t blame him at all for leaving.

Per Jeff Ermann, Nova circled back around to him even after the report of him negotiating a new deal with Maryland that would make him a top 10 paid coach.

Also said, there's a chance Damon Evans jumps at the SMU AD job.
Which apparently is happening, sounds like the Willard to Nova talk might be legit

Really? I'd have thought the shine was pretty dull on him. He's not really turned Okpahoma around and outside of those two Loyola-Chicago runs, he's been pretty uneventful.
Apparently that’s who Jay Wrigth was really pushing for and some thought that would be the biggest factor, guessing some folks got smart and realized he also forced the current coach on them that they just had to fire and that maybe his opinion isn’t all that great lol
