Lunardi moves TN up as #45 team safely in NCAA dance

LOL, said the number one Martin sunshine pumper...

How? Nothing I have said has been false. I also said if he doesn't make the tourney we should find a new coach. Find any false stat or a time I said if he misses we should keep him? I always want to win. I never liked the Dooley hire or his coaching. I said he was bad and should be fired. I still wanted to win every game though.

No it costs the same and thus why he isn't getting fired. We can't afford it.

If he makes the tourney and we fire him we just look like retards.

So Martin's back next year, no matter how this season ends?

How much does it cost to fire him out of curiosity?

we have increased our reserves by close to 10 million, iirc. We are working on a 70 million dollar Gibbs renovation. We couldn't afford to do it before, but did anyway. We can afford to do it now more than anytime over the last few years.
Fact is if CM comes back, the program will lose a couple million dollars pretty quickly and it will keep getting worse.

This has been my stance as well.

If Martin is retained then UT is basically saying they could give two sh*ts about the program and the fan base.

Not only does lunardi still have TN in, he's freakin moved us up the S curve to #45

What gives ?! Last year we couldn't buy our way in. This year, we can't buy our way out!

@ESPNLunardi: 43-Byu, 44-StJohn, 45-Tenn, 46-Prov, 47-OkSt, 48-HARV, 49-GB, 50-NDST, 51-TOL, 52-SFA, 53-DEL, 54-IONA, 55-BELM, 56-MERC, 57-MTSU, 58-BU.

Just plain laughable - and Tennessee isn't finished losing games yet.....

And that they're willing to bet the farm on martin. It would just give me another reason not to like decisions coming from the current administration.

Really?

You can guarantee the new guy is going to pack the house? You can guarantee the new guy will not start 3-7 next year?

Just because you are in better fiscal shape does not mean you can afford to do something. All it means is that you are in better shape.

Who is to say that Martin won't start 3-7 next year? Have you seen what Martin will have for next year? Have you seen next year's recruiting class?

Perhaps he will, can't guarantee he won't. If he does though, we wouldn't also be paying another coach along with his salary.

This year is head scratching but I don't buy he can't coach. His first year squad was picked to finish at the bottom of the league and it finished next to the top.

people are going to give a new guy a shot and you can start the road to recovery. People aren't going to give CM a chance next year and it puts you one more year away from recovery.
You lose money by not ending it asap. No, you can't guarantee anything, but you can't make things happen unless you are willing to take a risk. Taking the safe road here equals empty seats and more time before we have a chance to be good again.

That's my point.

We can make the dance and still have a coaching change, no? Is there some rule against that?

I've been led to beeline the big money donors make the decision not Hart, and that they're all off the Zo train. A tourney appearance surely wouldn't flip them back so quickly would it?

are you this dense?

Recovery? This program is not in the ditch. Been on the bubble 3 straight years now.

CCM has failed this year. I don't view his entire tenure here similar to this year.
