‘18 GA WR Jordan Young (FSU signee)

With Marquez and Young, Johnson is No.3 at best.

Add Taylor, and Johnson will be working to get on the field.

We’ll find out just how good Butch’s guys are soon enough.

Taylor has to get in the lab and improve his hands. Not counting him out but he’s got to show he can be consistent.

And a friend told me earlier that he saw sumn about a JJ tweet earlier insinuating he's coming back? So I think a Top3 of JJ, Callaway(both on the outside, and then a track star like Young, and a young playmaker like Taylor(both playing both inside positions.....and you have a nice exciting core to work with. That's 2 bigger, physical playmakers on the outsides that can beat the 1-on-1 when it comes, and the burners that can slash and dash running routes underneath, or seams. And all the other WRs that are in the mix too, if any of them earn the spots over those 4, then we'd have a damn good problem on our hands, ha! I like the way they are shaping this WR group up. We've been slacking on the "WRU" claim for awhile. We've got playmakers tho

He seems like the type to put in the work. I think he seems like he thinks he should be considered in the "elite" group of WR recruits, so I think he'll put the work in. He could end up being very good (depending on QB play of course)

Seems like a Marcus Nash/not quite Joey Kent type of talent and role. Which is a good thing tho. Marcus Nash played a pivotal role on some good Vol squads. And Joey Kent was a beast in my opinion. Peerless Price was good of course too, but the other2 get forgotten.

If my looking right there is no way he doesn’t become a solid composite 4* this week, correct?

Due to rivals givin him a starting 5.6 ranking till their new rankings comes out this week it is weighing him down. So once he gets a 5.7-5.9 or whatever Rivalen gives him (I seriously doubt they don’t move him up in that range) he’ll get a 4* composite ranking again!

HUGE!

We will have 8 4* composite players then. Would be nice if we could finish with a 12/10 4/3 star split.

Agreed. Forgot about JJ coming back. I could see him switching to defense with the new staff, though I do like him at WR.

I wouldn’t say we’ve slacking talent wise, Dooley and Butch brought in some studs. Chaney knew how to use em and it was fun to watch. But Butch and his 11 WR rotation was pathetic and took the best players off the field way too often. I think the WRU talent is still around though. Hopefully Helton utilizes them to their potential!

First things they need to do is get the receivers strong enough to just get off the line vs press coverage and not get pushed off their routes so easily.

I like Johnson a lot, but agree on this. Dependable but not a game breaker

Johnson is definitely not a game-breaker, but rather a possession receiver. He showed last season that he is a good route runner, and is the guy that can get open quickly on those 3rd and 7-10 yard situations.

He’s probably our slot guy from here on out with Byrd likely switching sides of the ball and while Taylor learns the ropes.

Justin Hunter ran a timed 4.4, was a long jumper. freakish athlete but had tiny ankles. Hunter is good for one or two long passes a game then he needs ice.

Hunter was a high jumper, I believe. He may have long jumped too, but he was known for his high jump. State champ IIRC.

You think he will get some playing time this fall?

He should. My concern is who will be throwing him the football? And can they be protected?

QB and OL is our achilles heel right now. I think Will McBride can be decent. But I fear the coaches will play Guarantano who I have less faith in. And there is little chance our o-line is good this year. 2019 is the earliest I can see us being decent up front.

Doesn't ESPN figure into that? They haven't rated him yet.
