‘18 GA WR Jordan Young (FSU signee)

His film is impressive on many levels but without knowledge of the strength of defenses he faced I will remain conservative on projections. Must have run good routes to get the ball on timing patterns and was not caught from behind very often with some great moves after the catch... if our new WR coach wants him I am all in...

The same concerns with talent level versus other teams can be applied to several commits. We have one signed that didn't play against top notch defenses. But a lot of these kids camp and several people see them.

I was excited about this kid before the big ratings bump! I mean look at the film on this kid and you can see how talented he is. Don’t give me any crap about his competition either, because Alontae Taylor played for Coffee County and I know he doesn’t play against the best competition. This kid truly does pick Tennessee and it’s a huge pick up for us. Very likely he chooses us. First big program to offer, proximity to home, etc.

This is from a Georgia site last year

NEWS & NOTES: Young is currently the fourth leading receiver in the Peach State for 2017 with 1,013 yards and 14 receiving TDs in eight games. At 6 foot 3 and 190 lbs and a reported 4.46 forty, it is a wonder why Young doesn’t have more offers, but I think that can be attributed to the fact that this is the first season where he has been “the man” at WR at Heritage. He hasn’t camped a lot either. Young has visited UGA. He was in Athens for Georgia’s game versus Mississippi State on Sept. 23rd. If young has the academics and test scores to go along with what he has done on the field this season, look for some more offers to start to come his way as a number of programs are showing interest.

Young has big, strong hands that he uses to snatch the ball out of the air with. He does a good job of adjusting to the ball, and he knows how to use his height and length to go up and get the ball at its highest point.

Young has been a weapon at WR for Heritage High School and the Patriots are 5-3 on the year. They will be on the road Friday to play (3-5) Alcovy, and it looks like Region 3 title in Class 6A will come down to the final regular season with Heritage at (6-2) Evans on Nov. 3rd.

The story on this kid hasn't even been noticed yet is just so odd. So he didn't camp on the rivals or any other circuit and it sounds like before this year his production was meh so I could see the recruiting sites missing on him. His stats though:

1,562 receiving yards
23.7 yards per catch
66 catches
17 receiving TD’s
18 Total TD’s
130 receiving yards per game

All of this in one of the highest divisions in Georgia...... in GEORGIA! We are not talking about this kid balling out in New Hampshire or Montana we are talking about arguably the most talent rich state in the country next to Texas. He had to be All-State in some capacity. He is also a state champion in the 100m hurdles. How many great football players have we seen in college football here recently who were also track stars? Several! So while he managed to do this somehow there was no buzz about him. If there is a kid who is averaging those kind of numbers here in TN I hear about them and I don't follow HS football that closely.

It's kind of mindboggling that there was so little buzz that the kid didn't even hold a Ga Southern or Ga State offer. You would think that if grades were an issue just off of his production alone he would get enough buzz to have someone interested.

The kid looks like a legit athlete and receiver and I am kind of glad he slid under the radar til we found him.

And lets be honest.... has there ever been a better name for a highlight reel than "Welcome to the abusement park?"

Sorry for doubting, young man. Come to the hill and ball out.

Tennessee has surged hard for Young since getting him on campus. He was blown away with the visit. Kid was an all-state player and hurdles champion. Was told he runs the 100 in like 10.6/10.7. Apparently, academic concerns early on is what stunted his recruitment a bit, but Tennessee's new staff deserves credit for identifying him before others and getting him on campus. Since his visit, South Carolina, Auburn and Ohio State have all checked in on Young.

Do you think this means the staff is going to take two WRs? Surely they aren't ready to just write off Copeland/Thompson/Porter/Green, and the odds seemed high we would have landed one, right?

Tennessee is taking best available players approach. Vols will continue to recruit Copeland and Green hard. They visited Thompson on Tuesday, too.
