’14 GA ATH Elliott Berry (UT Signee 2/5/14)

I kinda feel sorry for these kids....if they come to.Tennessee fans will expect the same results Eric put up. If they don't do it they'll get bashed by so called VFL'S

The potential difference is that UT could have a better overall team and hopefully record during their time in Knoxville. Folks would be less focused on their individual performances vs. the success of the team.

Eric is a legend. I'll never forget seeing him walk around campus when I went to UT. The dude was so nice to everyone, and he always had tons of people all around him. It makes you sick to your stomach to see guys like Manziel take online classes to avoid their supporters. Eric embraced UT as his home, and he's a one of a kind player/person. He does nothing but represent UT with style and honor, and he even wears a UT bracelet on Sundays in the NFL. I just can't express how much that guy loves UT, and it's a wonderful thing.

I'm.sure he was great and still is, I just meant by his brothers coming here the expectations will be huge!!!

Huge expectations, you're right. But there will never be another Eric Berry.

I'll root for these kids no matter where they go or what they do athletically. Eric Berry is one of the greatest student athletes Tennessee has ever had on the field.

The berry twins will not be expected to be as impactful as eric. It will get my hair standing up again just to see a berry on the back of our jersey. Holy cow it was a pleasure watching berry sink USC on haloween.!

I agree, but to expect an Eric Berry style player from anyone is crazy. Eric has played S, CB, and OLB for the Chiefs. Last year they moved him to CB due to injuries and the dude still made the Probowl. He's a freak, and he's a huge reason why the Chiefs are 6-0 right now.

Their secondary covered well enough to give the dl 10 sacks in one freaking game. Disgusting

I mean the Raiders also played without 6 guys on their oline too. The C had never played a snap at C before that game. The Raiders, coming from a life long Raiders fan, aren't even a NFL team. They are a practice squad team for most teams, and they wouldn't even have two wins this year if it weren't for Pryor single handling winning those games for us. 10 sacks is incredible for any team, but the Raiders have also lost their entire starting line already this year.

The Berry brothers' threads are pretty epic. With their speed and athleticism, they won't have to replicate Eric to be productive. My guess is their performance will pleasantly surprise those thinking they're marginal talents and be disappointing to those expecting to see Eric level players. All I know is that they will likely help improve team speed.

Good point but if any qb could scramble and throw the ball away it would be Pryor. Raiders had played pretty well under him previously. Believe he was one of 2 qb's that hadn't thrown an int this season. Thought I heard that on espn radio

EB is definitely a legend and a heckuva football player. However, saying he was friendly contrasts with what I remember.

He lived in Gibbs when I did (his freshman year). I don't remember thinking he was all that outgoing, because he never said anything. Compared with Chris Walker, D-Mo, and Ben Martin (who were hilarious and very personable), he was kind of standoffish. Looking back, I think he was just kind of shy at that time...and he may have come out of his shell later...so I'm obviously not saying you're wrong at all.

Do you resemble a horse(IN THE FACE) in any way? :p

Had to add the "in the face" part or this thread could have turned very bad very fast.

I guess better put I would say Eric never became frustrated with the amount of popularity that surrounded him at UT. I mean the man couldn't walk down a street without people trying to pat him on the back or yell at him. He is very shy from what I've heard of him, but I also saw him all the time between classes at UT, and he was always social to everyone around him. IMO he just handled his success in the right away, and he didn't try to hide from people like Manziel has by taking online classes.

I don't disagree with you in the least on that front. I didn't mean he was socially off-putting at all. What I should have said was that he always seemed more focused and isolated than those other guys...which was obviously a good way to handle things, given the resulting success he experienced and lack of negativity surrounding his tenure with the team.

Not sure if it has been discussed anywhere, but given the way that Butch is recruiting like we have more positions available than 30, is it possible that maybe Eric is planning to pay for his brothers' school to save the scholarship spots? I don't know if that would be a NCAA rules violation or not...maybe some NCAA rules guys can enlighten me on that subject. Just seems like Butch is recruiting like we are taking more than 30 players even when you factor in attrition.

Never, they have earned a scholarship and they deserve one...
