Not sure if it has been discussed anywhere, but given the way that Butch is recruiting like we have more positions available than 30, is it possible that maybe Eric is planning to pay for his brothers' school to save the scholarship spots? I don't know if that would be a NCAA rules violation or not...maybe some NCAA rules guys can enlighten me on that subject. Just seems like Butch is recruiting like we are taking more than 30 players even when you factor in attrition.
It's not about affordability. They've earned themselves a scholarship. Not to mention their house just burnt down. I think Eric will help them out with that instead.

Doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility to me. Eric loves his alma mater, wants to see the program turned around as much as anyone. Seems like it would be the best way to help accomplish that. The Berrys seem humble enough to be able to do something like that without it hurting their ego. Butch is certainly recruiting like we have a couple of extra spots available. Just saying it's not impossible.
Eric is the highest paid safety in the NFL. I think he afford to do both. I didn't say they didn't earn it. I'm asking if it is a possibility with NCAA regulations.
Somehow, I don't think the NCAA will let Eric do that. Because it's the NCAA. Unless Eric pays his dad and the Twins don't know Eric paid for it so they can honestly deny it.
How can they stop him? They don't have the power to keep family from looking after family. This isn't just some booster; he's their brother.
Personally I think it's pretty obvious that you could never ask the Berrys to do it. They'd have to offer to do it themselves. Would/have they? I have no idea. I'd say it's highly unlikely that this happens, but it would be absolutely incredible if it did.
Hurd will be fine. Just taking the season off. Elliot should get a shot at RB for sure, but what about Wharton? Doesn't he play RB for his team and shred defenses every week?
I'm with you on this and I don't understand all those out there who perceive it as an insult of some sort.
EB may currently be donating to UT's athletic department. If he instead chose to pay for his brother's college expenses, he would also be helping the athletic department. If I were CBJ, I certainly wouldn't expect it but would jump all over it if EB was willing. Its basically an NCAA loophole for 2 additional scholarships and UT wouldn't be the first school to do it.
I recall a highly recruited OL at GA a few years back who was from a wealthy family. He was a good student and used the HOPE scholarship I believe allowing GA to fund another player. Seems like the guy's name with Stinchcomb or something similar - was a multiple year starter for them.
Ya no one is suggesting that CBJ solicit that, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that EB might offer.
hea you're good enough for a scholarship but since your brother has a bunch of money could you get him to write UT a tuition check instead? Thanks guys
debate is worthless anyways
