Your point? You made a blanket statement saying that 5 star talent 'earned' their rating from these recruiting services. I cited you an example where that's not always the case. I never said that none of them didn't 'earn' their rankings. Broad proclamations like that are foolish.

Elam is an exception, most 5 stars are 5 stars because they are truly elite. A lot of people here like to act like every 5 star is condemned to be a bust or a drama queen when a lot of them worked just as hard to achieve that rating, they just happen to be blessed with freakish athleticism. Elam could be an all American when gets in college too.

Usually, unofficials don't mean much. However, he officially beat the same unofficial of Eric Berry. That, officially, means something.

It's funny how just a LITTLE bit of success changes people's tune so fast. If this were another Dooley class, we'd be sitting around 30th in the country with 5 commitments BEGGING for the Berry brothers. IMO, they are both good players, well-deserving of scholarships, and I hope like heck they both end up here.

ftr, I think Evan is a take, I'm just saying that you can't use an unofficial 40 time to disprove negative opinions about him as a football player

You still don't know if its hand timed or lasered, but it really doesn't matter if he's faster than Eric. My point is you can't use any 40 time to prove someone is a good football player. Elite track runners like the Berry's will run great 40's, then you have guys like Cherry who's 40 is almost irrelevant because they have no track background.

What you are saying is true in theory, but you are talking about a Berry here, and no one will be able to get beyond that.

If you had brought this point up in the thread of a 2* WR from North Dakota, then you would catch no flack.
