How long you make him wait for an uncertainty? “Just hold on and see if we get this better player...you good?” Sounds like a recruiting flub waiting to happen. Recruiting is a two way street. You have two comparative talents and one is ready and raring to jump on board...reward those types.
Reading tea leaves and Hall’s drinking coffee? They still call these kids daily? Maybe Hall’s conversations weren’t encouraging and Barnes decided not to waste either party’s time...especially with a talent waiting on the result. Nice respect from Barnes all around.he could’ve committed and they cancelled the visit, no? If they wanted to cancel OV first then why didn’t they cancel it days ago?
Like I said big picture we are saying the same thingReading tea leaves and Hall’s drinking coffee? They still call these kids daily? remind me what dominoes fell in the past week that effected Georgia, Miami and Vanderbilt...
If those schools were smart they’d have realized that before last nightThat’s easy.
Those schools saw the writing on the wall that Tenn was where Cardwell wanted to go. They knew they had to play the pressure card because it was becoming apparent that Hall wasn’t leaning toward us. They knew if they waited they were going to lose Cardwell to us
I don’t understand that thinking. If Hall’s still a possibility being explored, they DON’T TAKE his commitment. If you’re puzzled by him not being committed by 1 PM today, maybe Springer’s announcement has some relevancy...or he’s got a book report! That could be, but if that’s true then your statement of Hall’s OV being the only thing in the way of Cardwell’s commitment would be inaccurate
You said OV was only thing in the way, if staff is also discussing for days who they prefer then that’s also in the way, not just the OV.I don’t understand that thinking. I’m sure all this didn’t happen in 24 hours. Schools get tired of waiting and yes the vibes with Hall have become more public lately that the Vols weren’t in good shape. Those schools needed to monitor his recruitment to know how long to give Cardwell time. It seems very reasonable for them to try to pressure him
Before Hall told us no.
Cardwell holds the power, those schools can pressure him all they want but they know he’s visiting here and they’re gonna have to wait it out, so I don’t really buy that they were all pushing him that hard.
Yes there was more. I feel like Cardwell has probably always been higher on our board than maybe some thought, not saying even or above Hall, but maybe not as far back as thought. Remember this staff doesn’t waste OV’s, and they brought him in as a junior on an OV, that’s worth noting. I think given the commitments from Keon and assuming Springer there has been some discussion about who the better FIT might be, and I think a case can definitely be made for Cardwell > Hall. I think Cardwell probably hit it off on his OV with staff and players, and quickly fit right into the culture Barnes has built up here. Add in that springer then supposedly has expressed an interest to play with Cardwell if possible and I think it caused the staff to sit down Tuesday or Wednesday and have a talk about the situation. Add in that Cardwell it would seem really wants to be here, and Hall at best has Tennessee as one of his options, and I think that is why they did what they did.All I saw was mentioning Springer was his friend. A
Surely there is more if you think that changed things in the last week or so
